Just for some context, in the early 90s, I worked at a movie theater in the NE part of the US and we had a manger there who was a transplant from Maryland. He considered himself southern and so had a tiny Confederate flag in a pen holder on his desk, which was right in front of a pretty small two way mirror at the top of the lobby. That window was to look down and see the lobby real quick just in case there was a robbery or a fight or whatever. You couldn't see through it if the light was of but you could if the light was on. One busy Saturday night, there was a call over the radio for the manager to come down to the lobby. A customer had looked up and peeped the flag. The manager got chewed out in the lobby in front of everyone, had to put the flag away and almost lost his job. People been mad about that flag for a long time.
