Sean Cliver is behind some of the most iconic graphics of the 90s, a really talented artist, and has been involved in skateboarding for at least 30 years if not 40. I wouldn’t consider them a “hype brand” at all, what does that even mean?

Their concepts may not always be great, but the art is top-notch, not to mention they are usually like 7-10 color hand-screened decks.

2 shameful admissions. I had an Angel Boy slick, and I think the shit man graphic is actually great. Could be the lettering.

Honestly I have no idea. My friend found a complete board in the trash and gave it to me because my board was super done. It had krux on it ahaha

I personally love the new Alltimers decks. Having a minimalistic design is not an inherently bad thing. Additionally Alltimers is kinda known for having funny kitsch graphics. These ones work really well imo.

We had a local company called sexy lady and I got some boards either for cheap or for free and it's probably the worst graphic/company I've ever ridden. Owner was a good dude though, despite the company.

feel like 8 or so years ago all the series graphics that came out was a low point in skateboarding. Just churning out inoffensive vanilla garbage that could stock middle american mall walls. Pretty embarrassing. Also feel like it's what killed several legacy brands' aesthetic/reputations which few have recovered from.

Paisley's art direction was better but I'm guessing Cliver might have learned a little bit about what he can sell in shops these days and tweaked Strangelove accordingly. On the other hand, if you're gonna make a RotLD Trash graphic at least include the nudity ya know?

The Dunk hype is ridiculous, but Cliver is one of the best to ever do it. He's been killing it since Ray Barbee's Ragdoll in the 80's and put out a ton of the most iconic boards of all time. There are a couple Strangelove graphics I'm on the fence about, but Cliver (and Bratrud/Pendleton) have put out some incredible stuff.

I dont know why but those time era Cartoon boards will always get a pass for me. Loved old birdhouse, baker or shitty cartoon graphics. They have that magic skateshop 90s 00s vibe i fell in love with.
But 2010s cartoon graphics are disgusting. Brands like dgk ruined it for me.

Hot take: the fussy and painstaking process of screen printing graphics kept them somewhat more expensive and specialized and made it so that we didn't get Trump Wall boards of dubious origin and kept people from just throwing Jimi Hendrix and Biggie's images on generic blanks in an effort to make a quick buck.
