Too bad about the price

Ok, those look legit but price is ridiculous. These Barefoot shoe companies be trollin since they know hey have a niche product that they can jack the price up for or the economies of scale doesn't work since most people don't know about or don't care about barefoot style shoes.

After following wyde on instagram I have been bombarded with ads for barefoot sneakers. Has anyone tried to skate bareberics sneakers? They are cheaper than wyde and are a legit company according to some quick research. The only criticism I have read is that their soles are a bit to thick for barefoot shoes, which would actually be great for use as a skate shoe.

These would be good to skate I think:

I like this model, but it would need some shoe goo to be skateable I think:

Wasn’t able to see the second model but these do look more promising. Not sure how shipping to US will be and I’m still not sure about all these companies without trying first but we’ll get more feedback as more people seem to get it.

I heard the barebarics are very thin bottoms, 4mm. I have considered them though. There are some cheap pairs on Anyas Shop rn that I was looking at a few days ago.

I think NB is maybe the only good brand i can use now without sizing up .
when i wear size 11 in seemingly everything, my toes rub together besides NBs... maybe that isnt even true anymore though cause its been a few years since i had em now. maybe i just need to start sizing up overall...

I think it just comes down to arch height. You shouldn’t have to size up.

High arch: adidas, cons
Medium arch: Nike, New Balance, vans,
Low to no arch: es, Emerica, Etnies

That is my experience from trying on or skating shoes. Having flat feet really limits you, but es or Etnies is really all I can count on for comfort at this point.

My feet aren't considered  flat and I definitely fall in the medium arch category, but Adidas are the worst feeling because their arch support built in is so aggressive. Cons are similar, but not as bad as Adidas. Some NB are also too aggressive arch-wise. Nike depends on the model, but are better. Soletech fits the best for me, incidentally.

Isn't arch support in shoes meant to be opposite to the foot? If you have flat feet, then you'd need medium to high arch support in shoes to accommodate your lack of arch. Inversely,  having medium to high arch means you don't need additional arch support from the shoe. Perhaps my understanding of arches relative to shoes is wrong, though?

I’ll tell you how I think about it. I can fit all these sneakers width wide in the forefoot (except Adidas and converse). If you look at their soles they have the most cut in at the arch area. This means if you have low to no arch you will feel the rubber hitting/rubbing on your arch. I can look at the sole of a shoe and know it will rub on my arch. What I want is a wide shoe in the arch so the arch support is not sitting on top of the hard rubber edge of the sole. Arch support probably should meet your arch naturally. Not push your foot up because it will feel like a lump under your foot.

Here you have a Busenitz, NB 480 and a TJ Rogers. For my foot the Rogers is going to be the most comfortable.

You can find out what type of foot you have using foot mapping:

You can use the Dr. Scholl’s machine at CVS (if yours has one) to find out what type of insole you need whether you buy a Dr. Scholl’s insole or not.

@GardenSkater77
Okay, I also see something else not mentioned prior
I was only thinking of arch "vertically" within the shoe, whereas you're pointing out "lateral" aspects of arch in foot shape based on those shoe soles you showed. That's useful info!

I don't have flat feet (based on what you showed + what I've checked myself) as I'm closer to Neutral than the other 2 ends.  TJ Rogers also fit the best of the 3 you showed, but I think it's because they don't have aggressive arch + are a wider forefoot.

Definitely interesting takeaways from this, so thank you!!

100 Percent what this guy says. This should be more of a topic and there should be way more options.

Foot issues are really an age thing, so hopefully this issue will be picked up more in the next years, because people doing physical activities are constantly getting older. I only really know two sports companies who make this kind of shoe (a regular shoe with padding that also has a wider toe box): Altra and Joe Nimble. Unfortunately they don't make skate shoes.

Also Topo Athletic. But sadly nothing even close to resembling a skate shoe. There's so few options of shoes like this even for running/hiking or general use. Makes me scared how long it could take to get an actual skate shoe like this.

Alright, These Jordan knock offs come in 6E! Should skate OK if you are into this type of shoe.
