His part in let’s live was way ahead of its time and one of my favorites . I’m gonna go watch now. Edit: upon rewatch maybe not ahead of its time but definitely just has that pleasantly smooth classic style. And he made that Shove em 5050 on a rail look so easy and good . Beautiful . I’ve been enjoying his insta posts lately .

I heard he's a Zionist.
Word is that transworld will continue online only. Nomore print. A handful of guys are still employed. I believe Pease is one of them.
So no more online content either? Bummer. This leaves Thrasher left of the major mags, right?

There was an interview with TK, when he was a plumber. He got asked if he gets recognized on the job and his response was "No. Plumbin in disguise." Everyone on SLAP thought he said "put him in the sky"
The best point I've seen regarding why TWS and Thrasher were considered to be on a different level from the smaller mags is that they actually paid their staff. Paid writers, paid photogs, paid filmers, paid art dept, etc. If your "mag" doesn't pay the people whose work and time go into making your mag - you're definitely not on their level. I guess it's notable that TWS and Thrasher had staff photogs longer than Sports Illustrated did.

I'm not ready for skate photography to go away. I don't think skaters will stop taking photos of skaters but at this point we're like 40 plus years into a medium. So it's a super mature genre but it's also kind of feeling like an endpoint. Less mags means less venues for photos and I think it's conceivable that skate photos will become a quaint and inessential niche market. I'm not looking forward to that.
