Got a 9" Central old-school shaped board.

I need a wide low trucks for this sized deck, they only make high trucks in that size.

Never in my life have I ridden high trucks, only lows and venture trucks.

Venture only makes 5.8 high, Indy makes 159, Thunder makes 151. All high's.

No clue on what trucks to ride or get..

Any help for low trucks?

I think tensor makes a large/low truck, like a 5.85 low or something. But who in this world would what tensors?! ha

Just go with the Venture 5.8's, with such a large deck you want a higher truck to avoid wheelbite.

Haha yeah, if it wasn't Venture. Indy or Thunder only.

I didn't think about the wheel bite part, I am used to low trucks. Not really going to do much crazy stuff on it, just wanna ride it around and a couple flips here and there.

A 5.8 low would be perfect, but no such thing exists.

Aren't Thunder trucks low already? Thought I read that they were what some companies consider low.

They make low and high trucks.

Standard to what others are low and high. Just different sizing, I guess.

Art - you are on a streak of stunners. GREAT setup. I love that Frank graphic, I wanted to grab that board before it was gone. And those recent edits with Gerwer are gold.

Interested to hear how it goes for you jumping back down to 8.18!

8.25 to 8.18 doesnt feel that strange at all...especially since it was essentially from a similarly shaped 8.25 generator with a lil bit of concave down to an 8.18 generator with almost no-concave (making the 8.18 feel as wide as 8.25).  the 149iis feel the same on the 8.18 as well.

short answer: feels the same.  I still prefer 8.25 though.  just because it's familiar.

I like that it sorta opens up what decks I "can" skate...i.e. if there are no 8.25s I like at a shop, nice to know the 8.18s are also an option.  I havent had the same success with moving up to 8.38 or 8.5.

So, My Magenta board finally died on me today; Not really sure what I'm looking for now. I kinda want to try a Quasi, Hockey, or Northern -- How are those boards? I dug my Magenta's shape all though it felt a little bit flat (which I got used to).

Quasi and Hockey are both PS Stix, Northern is South Central. All 3 will feel a little steeper than your Magenta.

I'd say give Northern a try. South Central boards are indestructible, and the Northern dudes are worth the backing.

I just got a Northern Mike Lent board 8.5, it feels really sturdy and i get great response from it, medium concave with good pocket depth. it almost feels closer to the DLX 8.62 shape in how wide it feels, and that's a good thing. i am really stoked on South Central boards and will probably ride them for the foreseeable future.
