Have you been sitting on this deck for a long time? I skated this board a little over 3 years ago.

I haven't but the shop have, at least for more than a year.

What is the benefit of having one rail on? do boardslides feel uneven? do you put in on heel or toe side?

Imo it's like training wheels for boardslides. Makes them a lil more stable/consistent. Put it on to get my confidence back on some of the stuff I'm sliding. It's on the toe side.
I'm probably going to remove it soon just because it looks so whack with white on purple.

I agree with Mr. Worrest, but Appleyard did have a good point here at 1:48

[close]

Haha, "you know a G's coming when you hear that." Appleyard is so damn good but that def doesn't apply to me so maybe I should keep 'em on?  8)

Yeah, I went down the seemingly endless rabbit hole of skate set-up youtubes this week and saw both of those. Foy mentions shieldless bearings voids dirt in his vid. Read about the sound preference, the loose feel of wheels, etc. The guys in my shop said most of the time the shields fall off anyway. I probably won't hassle it.

Nb: *Not* trying to drum up the tired shields vs. non thing here either as I've lurked this board for some time now and know the topic's been beat to death ad nauseum.

Man, Foy's board must be a tank! Big Boy indeed.

one rail on the toe side is fairly common nowadays. helps a lot with leverage tweaking frontside grabs, boneless stuff and whatnot.
also for board slides you can lean forward a bit more without stopping and stepping off which can save your nuts.

but nothing beats two rails.

@chappers:
how does the carpet feel, concave, wood quality, etc. i am eyeballing one

I’ve been skating the classic shape spitfire and I used to hate the shape but now I fucking love how they feel. Will I go back to conicals and fulls? Probably. But these will be my 2nd favorite shape of a wheel from now on.

Posted over in the 9"+ thread as well...

Lib Tech Jamie Lynn 9.25 - redrilled to 14.625" wheelbase from the 15"
Ace 66 w/ Mini Logo bushings (Ace pop out of the washers)
56mm SPF P5 shape
Indy Black Bearings
Mini Logo 1/10 risers

It tapers a lot so there is a little wheel showing in the back.  Front is lined up well.

The thing I noticed about the deck is it is super light.  It uses their Cockroach construction and with the grip it weighs 1320 grams.   That's about the weight of a Real 8.06.   My 8.3 Ishod Twin Tail was 1345, and the 8.3 slick one was 1375, and a 8.5 Mini Logo I have is 1389.

One rail helps slide better but, limits how you slide. It does give you more slide while keeping some control on the side you put it on but feels off in the opposite direction.

First off big shout out to The Corner Store Skate Shop in Gallatin, Tennessee. I originally ordered one of the new ToPX decks and mentioned that I love Pennswood (his shop decks are Pw) and he emailed me to let me know the new terror are on Quincy not Pw and  let me switch over to this deck instead. He does free shipping and grip so total was $47, which is actually cheaper than buying it from most shops here in Pittsburgh. Shipping was super fast, I got the deck 2 days after I ordered it. On top of it already being a great deal the dude threw in the latest issue of Skate Jawn, some stickers, and a free T-Shirt. Super cool. Also included a picture of the grip for you guys to ridicule.

Indy 144 Forged Hollow
OJ/Creature Bloodsucker 56mm 97a
Flip HKD 7's (really good cheap bearings)
Classic Grip (first time trying it, I like it so far - very Jessup-esque)

This is the first deep dish I've skated in a smaller size. The last one I tried was an 8.5 and I don't know if it was low in the stack during pressing or the bigger size or what but it didn't seem nearly as deep as this one. I've got a Troika 8.38 "steep" from Pennswood and even it is pretty mild comparatively. You could eat cereal out of this fucking thing.

Ya I was actually just telling SneakySecrets about how I like flat decks and whatnot and then I go and order this for some reason. I got a deep-side-of-medium concave 8.12 Blood Wizard for $25 in that crazy zumiez sale and I liked it so I guess I figured "Well if I like the bbs one I'll REALLY like one from Pennswood" but I wasn't fully prepared for how deep this thing is. And after the honeymoon period I've struggled landing shit on the Blood Wizard so I guess I'll have to just get out there and see how it goes. All the kids skate them so surely my 34 year old broken down ass will get along great with it right?

Ya I knew as soon as I saw his instagram that it was the kind of place that I want to spend my money. He has the requisite google reviews from people who've never been to a skate shop and were offended that he didn't ritually castrate himself in their honor when they walked through the door or didn't want to deal with their stupidity and blocked them on instagram. He did a sticker contest a while back and gave a free board to a kid who went and put them up in the local Zumiez store. I love my local but this motherfucker makes me want to move to Tennessee. This is one of his google reviews:

"Openly supports (picture proof) reckless driving and the evasion of the police. Not only that but they are comfortable with publicaly body shaming people about their physical appearance without being provoked! To top it all off, CALLED MY MOTHER A FAT A**(also pic proof)! unprofessional and Hateful business."

Oh my! A skateboarder who supports evading the police? Well I'm just shocked.

It makes me uncomfortable that there is than one picture of a skateboard with a different brand of deck sticker on them in this page. I also leave the safety warning sticker on before I grip my boards, so maybe I'm the weird one.
