Finally a board that doesn't make my feel like a 14 yo

Sunrise 8.475 x 31.875 WB 14.3 square shape.
Thunder 1" hardware
Some generic microperforated griptape that came for free with the board
Krux 8.5
F4 99 54mm classic full
Swiss 6

i just set up my first polar board. it seems lighter than anything else and it's a bit larger of a deck. can anyone confirm that polar decks are lightweight?

May just be the usual variance you see board to board.  I had one that was heavier than normal last summer.  Still skated great.

Decided to set up a new complete to try something bigger.

Decided to go with the shaped deck

Anti-hero blue meanie 8.75 etc
Indy 159 AVE
OJ mini elite 56mm 101
Bones Swiss 6
Diamond hardware

How did you like it? I don't need new decks and I don't really have suitable trucks for that but for some reason this board is tempting me a whole bunch right now. 😊

It’s good fun. I broke my collarbone and fucked my shoulder so was off a board for about 6 months and am still getting the feel of being back on a board (2 kids etc means skates aren’t that common) but it’s a super fun shape and worth a go if you feel the itch.

Damn. I wish you a good recovery. Remember to take it easy enough and do you rehab and you'll be back better than before.

Thanks for your insight on the deck. Much appreciated although it's not helping my gear madness one bit!  :D Pairing this with those 8.75" Aces that are supposedly dropping around spring could be so good. 🤔

At the park yesterday I saw a kid with this and another dude with that brown bomber, seems like the shape is pretty popular around here

Christmas freshie
- Robot 8.25
- free grip that came with the board. Is actually pretty decent.
- Tensor ATG 5.5 (God I love them already)
- Spitfire F4 99 tablets 55mm
- Spitfire burners
Wanted a smaller second setup just because of madness, so far is pretty fun but my kickflips took a ticket to shitland tho.

They grind nice but sure they won't last long since they're already grooving. Robot is a Chilean brand, this one in particular is a Beaufort collab.

Those are just the normal aluminium tensor atgs. They might also grind down quicker than most trucks idk. But the ones that really chew through rough concrete and grind down fast are the magnesium ones that have the matte-ish texture.

while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo

Imported, bbs supposedly. We don't press board here. There was an intent years ago and it was a big failure.

Sure looks like one. This is from an artist collab, Beaufort is the name if I recall correctly. He did art in some tws covers. Always thought it was pretty cool.

I measured a 14.1 wheelbase but online it said 14 so take that at what you will.

Deck: Polar - Brady “Hannah” (8.375 x 32 x 14.375)
Grip: Jessup UltraGrip (was free while MOB was $5)
Rails: Powell Peralta Rib Bones (14.5”)
Trucks: Ace 44s (Stock w/ an Indy top washer)
Wheels: Spitfire F4 Conical Fulls (99a, 53mm)
Bearings: Bones Big Balls
Hardware: Shorty’s Lights w/ 1 Silverado (7/8, Allen)

Just set-up this Christmas complete.  I wanted to try something different from what I usually skate and since I’ve been getting into curbs and transition lately (mainly a manual, ledge and flat guy), I decided on also giving rails a try.

I normally ride an 8.0-8.125, Thunder 147 Hollow Lights / Team Hollows w/ Bones Medium/Hard Bushings, and 51-52mm F4 Radial Slim or Classics.  I wanted something more carvy but not as tall as Indy Standards so I went Ace 44s.

Edit: FYI all Polar 8.375s actually have a WB of 14.375 and not the advertised 14.5.

Exactly 32” long if you measure from tail to tail and don’t push down on the tape measure.  I think all BBS boards are like that while PS Stix tend to measure all of the wood together (basically the length before pressing the shape).

Width is exactly 8.375.

Wheelbase is exactly 14.375.

Nose is showing 7” and the tail is showing 6.75”. It’s a little hard to get it exact as my tape measure is very stiff and these are quite steep kicks.

The concave is on the steeper side of mid.  My Quasi 8.0s I would consider on the mellower side of mid.

The kicks are closer to full than pointy but I wouldn’t consider them full. When I think full I think of Quasi 8.0s and 8.375s, Theories 8.5s, and DLX Full SEs.  Those are all decks I’ve owned with very full shapes.

Here’s my Polar next to my Quasi 8.0 (full bandaid shape) and my brother’s old Baker 8.25 (OG Shape so fairly pointy kicks).
