toy machine 8.25 x 31.98 wb 14.25 (eu based so china wood, feels alright though)
venture 5.8, stock bushings, flat top washer
spitfire f4 classic 55mm 99a
many different bearings
diamond bolts, jessup grip
skate halfcab 92s

i won a contest and got to pick a board from a website, decided to get this one i’ve always liked this graphic but never had it and i kept thinking about it because someone on here has a gif of a fs half cab flip from brian anderson’s part in jump off a building where he’s skating this graphic. that black stain is nice too.

What are you guys thoughts on truck width matching board width?
[close]
I’m skating an 8.5 on thunder 147 right now, I’m loving the easy flipping for kickflips. I think most people don’t do this though
[close]

Also found out I enjoy some magic carpet. 8.75 on thunder 149s. Kickflips feel good. Even if I don’t get a good pop they’ll do a barrel roll and whatever. But magic carpet definitely helps me with flicking.

ever since truck companies started making the 8.25 truck and making the truck width part of advertising, I think more people have been worried about numbers matching and ignoring the benefits of a flipable magic carpet or stability of wider trucks

I miss when I didn't know what size trucks i rode and deck size was less important than graphic

The black stain has always been my favorite for this graphic. I’ve had multiples of this one and loved it every time. Paired with Thunder for me!

It was 3 for 2 sale, so I had to get some...
I have to say, Alltimers have treated me extremly well. Polars have been hitnmiss in terms of durability, same with Real.
They are all BBS so should obviously have some consistency with them, but idk...

Setup:
Alltimers Zered 8.25
Mob plain black
Thunder Team Raws 144
Spitfire F4 Classics 54mm
Bones super reds which are shit. Even my extremly old Swiss 6's are better.

Correct. All are 8.25. The irony is that the Polar deck is suppose to have 14.125 WB, but actually has larger wheelbase then both the Alltimers & Passport, which has 14.25.

That alltimers looks hella sick. Gotta look into them.

I haven't had any good Bones Reds/Super Reds in at least 3 years. Don't know why tho. Currently on Modus Blues and they are awesome.

Seeing 8” set-ups on here always makes me happy and nostalgic, especially if they’re paired with venture lo’s!

Right there with you man. Had a Girl 8" on venture lows not too long ago just for nostalgias sake. Then the madness struck and I was on another setup shortly after.

A small part of me still wishes I could get an 8" Think deck. Red with the flame font. With venture lows, pig wheels, and lucky bearings. That was my favorite and most sentimental setup from that time period.
Let us all take a moment of silence for all our brothers and sisters who are dealing with truck madness. We have reached page 100 and shown the world that it’s not easy, but we’re strong as one.

@hobochimp thanks man, ive had a clanger or two
but i cleaned up my act, pun intended. glad you like em
its super snappy off of the few flatground tricks i threw down
easily the closest feeling i can get to venture lows on an 8.75

@iw0 99a boardycakes are stickier than f4 in 99a
same deal with these vs 97a f4s
the butterballs will slide with a little more effort/speed
i have accepted that nothing slides like f4
but spitfire doesnt make a readily available f4 thats sub 50mm
boardycakes fills this niche so well that its hard to complain

Wouldn't just buying f4 classics in 50mm and wearing them down be ideal? In my experience, narrower f4s wear down pretty quick in 99s.

never owned classics but maybe
the idea of wearing down wheels gives me ptsd after the last set
thought it would be genius to take 58mm radial fulls down to 50

What are you guys thoughts on truck width matching board width?

I like 149s on 8.38 or 8.5 decks, but I used to ride 139s on 8.12 size boards with washers on the inside and wider wheels to try to accommodate the difference.

Most of the time with normal (not wide) wheels, the truck profile still is inside the board with the same width trucks anyway, but it all comes down to personal preference, often based on what you like to skate.  More transition based setups usually have wider trucks, but more street usually have not so wide trucks, when compared to the deck.

Even just the width of the board can sometimes make a difference, eg riding bigger boards in the 9" or so people might not want such wide trucks, just to try to help with weight, or having too much axle to grind on, as I found when I set up a bigger board and was more used to smaller trucks to lock things into.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

Ah, cool. My Pass~Port is listed as a 8.0, but it feels more like an 8.125 underfoot.

Guess BBS measurements are all over the place?

That's fair. For what it's worth, the narrower f4s wear down in a much more manageable time. I try to think of it as you get a broken in wheel in your size when you size up where as if you buy your size, youre skating off borrowed time in terms of your ideal measurement haha.

Chocolate G052 (8.12 - 8.25 x 31.875 & 14 wb)
Indy Titanium 144
Indy blue aftermarkets (top bushing cut in half)
Magenta Bolts
Modus Blue Bearings
Spitfire Conicals 52mm
Jessup
Spraypaint because I didn't vibed with the graphic

First sesh today

Coming from a Darkroom BBS Deck, this Chocolate takes a bit getting used to for me. The 14 wb is sick but the taper is a bit funky. This deck feels hella stiff and crispy. Not sure if I will get another one in the future but so far it is fine. Next on the list is a Magenta 8.25
Any recommendations for a BBS 8.25 with a 14 wb?

Much love pals. Huf forever.

April and Primitive do 8.25 with 14, but not many other BBS brands do. Limousines and some Hockey/FA are 14.1.
