Idk wtf 'sacred geometry for precise pop' means, but I'm all for a lighter truck with more kingpin clearance. I love how the current iteration of Royals skate.

You can't post a statement like that and not give a full review dude.

Adding a link to an unboxing from the Royal IG story

https://instagram.com/stories/royaltrucks/2688432959328174485?utm_source=ig_story_item_share&utm_medium=share_sheet

TLDR; I think I've heard someone on here describe them as a surfy thunder and I agree. The standard ones are horrible due to bad kingpin clearance, but I love the inverted kingpin ones. The only complaint is that I have to run them with smaller wheels due to the low height and that they can feel kind of cheap. I've had less quality control issues with Royals than Ace though.
[close]

How much do they adjust the wheelbase? I've been looking for a low (under 50mm) 8.25 truck, closest at the moment is Mini Logos.

I rode Royal trucks back in the day and the kingpin clearance was bad, even by 2000s standards.
[close]

It's in between Ace classic and Indy standard. About +2.875 give or take.

if thats true these trucks sound pretty epic

Got my 8.5" K5's down to 340g with Bones hard bushings (no top washer) and Downlow kingpins (top washer only). Are these pretty much the lightest trucks out there besides maglights?

These bitches turn well enough and the build quality is excellent. Stoked to finally have an Allen kingpin, all trucks should have this shit stock.

I tried venture 6.1 with soft bones bushings, and tensor alum reg 6.0 with soft bones bushings
tensor are much more turny than venture ... I might try the 6.0 alloys with soft dohdohs soon

Yep. Ti Thunders (forged) are the lightest you can get in any size other that Tensor maglights.

Sorry if this has been talked about here already, but does anyone out there have those 58mm tall Destructo trucks? The squadron 6.0, are they any good? I'm kind of curious, I've never seen a truck that tall before.

Use the search function at the top and type in Destructo, I think @Buttfart Rapedick rode a pair but I've not seen him on here in a bit.

The Destructo customer service is really good, hit them up on IG if you ever want to ask them about the trucks. They even gave me a discount code just for chatting, which was awfully nice of them.

I rode the D2s, they were like a mix between a venture high and an indy (mega kingpin clearance of e venture high with a turn closer to an indy). I had no complaints. Ended up giving them to a friend who was just starting skating

They work fine.

Mostly seen on bigger board dudes who don't really skate street, but they are the same as putting 1/8" risers on normal Indy trucks, for a comparison of height.

You can adjust the bushings to turn quite sharply too, but they are about the middle of the road in terms of everything with just running them stock.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

Had my first session on Mini Logo trucks and like everyone here has said: excellent value for the price but not groundbreaking.

First time riding a truck that shortens the wheelbase (+2.75") and coming off Venture cast (+3.25") the first hour was pretty hairy. Quite a bit of lean before the turn but when they do turn it was really sharp and I didn't have to tick tack at the edge of the park. No wheelbite despite the low height. A touch heavier than I would like at 363g which is close to a Venture 5.6 Std, a hollow kingpin variant would be a nice upgrade.

Can't comment on the pinch yet since the slight drizzle was making me paranoid about skating the ledge but for straight on 50-50s they felt adequate. Metal felt hard-ish, between a Indy and a Venture.

Was tempted to fit my worn in Bones Medium got lazy and stuck with stock which had me pleasantly surprised. First push down the asphalt road felt close to 80% broken in and by an hour in it felt right as rain. I normally ride loose-ish on Ventures but these at factory tightness were great.

The pop feel took the longest to adjust to coming from hefty pop truck. Way less ghost pop and a it helped "lengthen" the deck I was riding which was shorter than I usually like.

Overall, very impressed and would stick on them till the new Royal trucks are available in my neck of the woods. Or until Venture decides to do a 5.6 V-Hollow Lo.

Am I fucked? I built a complete on CCS and I chose an 8" board with size 5.0 Venture lo trucks. Because I am very smart I only bothered to check Venture truck sizing after the fact and learned that their size 5.0 is for boards 7.9'' and under. Will this make a noticeable difference, or should I just live with it for a bit. I haven't skated in ~15 years and only plan to roll around empty parking lots & do flatground stuff for the forseeable future...

PS Could someone clue me in on what the 5.0 even refers to in venture sizing? all brands seem to have different sizing. venture 5.0 is like I guess an independent 129-139?

I believe the 5.0 measurement is measuring the grindable hangar space in inches, not including the axle. as far as running 5.0 on an 8 inch board, you should be fine. you can go a 1/4 inch on either side and still be fine. i run 1/4 inch bigger trucks than my deck usually.

Venture 5.0 is a 7.62 axle which is like in Indy 129.  Did the board ship yet?  If not - call them up.  It's a very narrow truck for that board.

Yeah it shipped and it's arriving Monday. 7.62'' axle vs 8'' board sounds like it's gonna be noticeable. lol.

but it'll make tech tricks easier..

That’s what I’ve come back to because it made all my flip tricks better and got them back, I think if you skated 15 years ago the size deck and trucks you got will feel at home and easier to get back into it

Destructos and silvers are so far the WORST trucks I’ve tried, and Im one of the craziest truck madness guys on these message boards

I have both the standard high destructo 5.5 and 5.2 lows, they both sucked ass. Metal quality is ass you can feel how cheap they’re made compared to the more well known brands, they’re worse than mini logos, they suck at turning so much even ventures turn better, response sucked especially on the standard high with ghost pop for days. Just stay away from destructos and silver trucks

Id suggest mini logo over those and in my opinion mini logos aren’t even bad but everyone gives them a bad rep so that’s how I set the bar on the truck rating with my review of those lesser trucks

Stick 3 washers on the inside of the axle.

Problem sorted I rode 5.0 on an 8 like this for a year. Skates great.

I actually really liked the destructo d1 mid with the short hollow pin. I removed the bottom washer and had indy conicals in them. I had to retire them early because of axle slip though.

Doesn’t ishod do the same with his 147 on an 8.3 setup?

That’s crazy cause even with bones mediums for me they just weren’t it, I remember why they suck’s and silvers suck
The casting leaves the metal I would say porous, the grain structure isn’t tight and is inconsistent so the trucks feel cheap. I’m not saying forged is the best but for them it would help to at least have forged baseplates to off set the cheap casting

Just discovered that the pivot cup in mini logo trucks is incredibly hard plastic. I can't even squeeze it with my fingers. Putting in indy or thunder pivot cups makes the turning even better.

Getting those shipped to europe probably costs a lot more than minilogo trucks unfortunately. I'm feeling fine with indy/thunder pivot cups right now, but thanks for the information

Anyone skate those GK disruptors? With all the recent obsession with inverted kingpins and everyone messing with their gear I'm surprised no one hasn't just tried the new editions from the truck company that did it first.

If you haven't skated in 15 years, it's likely that you're more used to magic carpet setups (trucks narrower than deck), but I think the 5.0 should fit pretty well. If they feel too narrow, you can push the wheels out a bit by adding a couple extra washers on the inside of each wheel.

My buddy just setup a pair on his deck, he loves them for Smith Grinds. But I don't trust his review of gear beyond that, he just rips on whatever he's given. He rode the Tensor Alloys for 2 years with zero complaints, so anything is an upgrade from that.

Rode these before and they are a very adequate truck, similar to a Venture 5.2 V-light in terms of weight and height. The metal is extremely hard and the bushings are very tall / hard, turning leaves a lot to be desired. But for the price point good value.

Did anybody ever get an inverted kingpin to work with mini logos? Baseplate seems to be the worst for it.
No experience at all with IKP, would the new krux DLK pins fit?

I love these trucks for everything except smith grinds
