Might be a little hard to see just from the pics, but I could imagine that if they did lengthen the baseplate a bit, it would be to cover the additional bolt holes sufficiently so there would not be the 1991 nose slide issues, where after a while, the whole bolt and front of baseplate would be gone.
The set I redrilled at 3/8 was really close, the set at 1/4 was just nicely clear, but with wear, that could get a little too close for comfort for some, or impact the life of the truck.
Hard to say until seeing them in person and comparing them to the regular baseplates, but I could see that could be why things were changed a little as well. Also interesting to hear once people have them if they change much or still feel the same as other Ventures in the nose / tail slide options, but hey who knows.
I guess that is why Ishod has been riding them for a while now too, just to really test them out and then give feedback and who better than someone like him - current DLX team rider, so no matter if he is skating Thunder or Venture, at least it is from the same distro.
Any other info, specs and whatever else I guess will come out with the official release, but at least that should keep others happy for now.
* For the person who said, "Why can't they just drill it out right in the middle?" I was also thinking this, so to have a Thunder drilled Venture, (as well as a double drilled Thunder) it might be the best thing they could do, but then does that make not enough of a difference, or it wouldn't allow the option to go further forward or back, or with Thunder, would it just be too many options all at once? I guess it gets a little funny there.
