I really like the CJ Collins Volcom pants, but they are out of stock everywhere. Anyone have any suggestions for similar fitting pants? I like these becuase they are chinos, but have pockets more like jeans instead of slash pockets. I feel like Dickies might be similar, just don't know where to start.

Man I think switching from Volcom to Dickies is risky…..Doesn’t Volcom have anything else with the same description?

Their skate chinos seem like a fairly similar pant.  The main difference is the skate chinos have the slash pockets instead of the straight across pockets like the CJs have. Might give them a try when I need a new pair.

Where do most you draw the line at baggy shorts?

Are we in favour of a jort?

I managed to score a shorts version of the loose fit chinos I wear and I’m curious to see how they feel.

I wear a work short daily but they’re pretty slim fitted, so skating in them feels a little restrictive

I’ve fully committed to the Jorts during summer but you have to have the right length, they can’t be too long. Ishod is the jort god but Louie lopez also rocks some good ones.

My favorite baggy shorts are the Punkandyo ones. I have two pairs and they just barely hit below my knee, which I like

Ahhh yes @BartHarleyJarvis the bootleg Big Boys... Had my run in with a pair a couple years back on Mercari, absolute shit quality when compared to the normal ones and the fit was, bizarre to say the least... I tend to stay away from Big Boys on marketplace platforms now, just not worth the risk and as you stated, the varied sizing and quality.

Kind of a random question, but someone might have the answer. I bought a pair of Pangea jeans from the first run in a size 38 and even though they were stamped with a 38, they are clearly more like a 36 at most. Anyone else know of this or run into a similar issue? Obviously with 1st runs, there is bound to be some variability and dialing in, just curious cause I'm kind of bummed they didn't fit like I wanted.
[close]
general rule with Pangea is size up. I’m a 32 in most brands and I get a 34 in pangeas. Waists fit tight like you said. Only thing that didn’t fit that way was the tan cords they have rn. Those 32’s fit like 34’s, 34’s like 36 etc
[close]

Good looks on the insight. I have a pair of the feldspar pants in a size 38 and they fit like a real 38, hence my surprise when I copped these and it just didn't meet my expectation. Pants are a fickle thing, I never have an opportunity to actually try on about 95% of the pants I buy so a lot of my information comes from here or the sellers. Grabbed a couple pairs of Tightbooth pants recently from someone and they were super informative, giving me measurements and everything, which made things much easier and reassuring.

On a side-note, I've been noticing brands like Butter, Cash Only and Pangea doing smaller runs of size 40+ pants, sometimes only going up to 36 or 38. If you could actually see me you'd think that's ridiculous, as I'm about 5' 4" and have a 32 waist, but I like my pants big and baggy, might be a sign that the baggy pants "trend" is on its way out in the eyes of the manufacturers.

I def have slimmed up my kit, I had like 12 pairs of butters and cash only, unloaded those off to the kids at a recent skateshop get together, currently wearing sized up 550s

Yes, same here. Used to have a few pairs of butter jeans, silver tabs, etc. i think i watched some footage back and thought wow i look like a fucking idiot. Now i mostly wear 550s or whatever loose fit pants i can thrift. I also wear sized up 501s and actually like the way those fit. I could skate them np but they’re mostly for when I’m just out and about

Agreed I don't wear baggy anymore. I'm 38 though and it's just too old.

Stupid question is there different versions of the 550? As in different fits. Asking because when I look at them online they seem to really vary in how they look in different retailers.

from what i been reading and experienced myself in ordering some vintage 550s from ebay: the fit and measurements are a bit all over the place depending on when/ where a certain pair was produced. so it's kind of a gamble. some are pretty baggy, some more subtle- but somehow i never came across a pair that didn't fit me good one way or another.

i am a 32 waist but do like to size up to 34 mostly/ sometimes 36 in butter goods, polar and all other stuff. tried 550 in 34, 36 and 38 waist in a 32 lenght. the 34 and 36 were basically the same, 38 came out proportionally wider. but they all felt really good wearing them to me

TLDR: depends on production years- fits can be a bit all over the place but for cheap on ebay (likely below 20€) they are worth the gamble

Huf Cromers TTS are like a better fitting 550. Not too baggy, taper is nice. I have to use a paint pen to paint the logo, but mostly wear black so it's easy.

I'll add to this, watch out for the tapered leg on the older ones, they taper a loooot. Also if you buy older ones go for measurements, as they tend to go slimmer and larger than the tag says.

got me two pairs of polar 93 denims- indigo/ darker blue and pitch black.

the blue pair is from the fall 2024 season and the pitch black is summer 2024- they fit pretty wide. i didn't measure, but from wearing it they feel wider. fit is pretty dope and the denim on both is thick but super soft. also the pitch black pair is suuuper dark compared to the "pitch black" labelled pair i got a year ago (first ones with the grey logo patch on the back)

so pretty much just a heads up. curious if any other pals feel the same or if it's just my brain tricking me and they really don't fit much different than older pairs.
got a pretty good deal and was like 70€ a pair

Fortunately I never went off the deep end with baggy pants, but I agree 100% about sized-up Levis 501s. I'm typically a ~31, but thrifted 33-34 501s make an excellent "loose" skate pant without being ridiculously baggy.

The summer black pitch is indeed lighter and slightly aged than the winter black pitch your eyes are fine.

Anyone in this thread know of some good relaxed fit pants that are thin material? Bulky cotton and denim really just look weird and brick-like on my short build. I need some drapery yo.

Anyone in this thread know of some good relaxed fit pants that are thin material? Bulky cotton and denim really just look weird and brick-like on my short build. I need some drapery yo.

The Foy Dickies I have are super thin after washing once. They don't feel like regular Dickies at all.
If you can't accept me at my half-cab, you don't deserve me at my full-cab.

j....soy.....

Polar surf pants or similar pants like Cookman's would fit what you're looking for. I have a pair of these pleated pants and they're a super thin summery material too. Fit might be too baggy for what you're looking for though:

Carhartt WIP Flint pants are fairly thin and a good relaxed fit. 100% cotton but not thick at all. WIP is way too expensive new but I've found a few good pairs on depop or secondhand sites.
