Online shops, please add at least length and wheelbase to all decks.

Also if you follow a shop online and they post stuff almost all of them will ship if you give them a call.
Vu does this all the time

What I usually do is use tactics/spot/socal  as sort of a reference for that info if I'm curious about a deck but I always take it with a grain of salt because they can be wrong. The company's site is the best place to find out the specs if they list them.

I'm not going to get mad at these little shops for not having detailed info. A lot of these places struggle to just keep the doors open and unfortunately they aren't going to have the time/budget/knowledge to create and maintain a detailed web store most of the time.

Also not sure if it's already been listed and it's not exactly east coast but this place always deserves a mention

Fastest shipping and coolest shop owner. Email him with any questions, he answers quick.
Can’t stress how sick the owner is. Give him your money. I think he’s doing a sale too if you check his story on IG

He also only stocks boards he'd actually ride himself (and he has good taste), which I think is super cool. If a company uses shit wood he won't carry it.

I bought a couple scumco decks off him a while back and we got to talking about our shared affinity for the brand. A little while later I ordered one of his shop decks and when I opened the box he had thrown in a FucOff skate stopper removal kit for free, and he always throws in the latest issue of skate jawn.

Not that I, or anyone else, should expect free shit from him but I just wanted to share that to drive home the kind of dude he is. He actually puts spreading the joy of skateboarding and quality products ahead of profit and I really respect that. Also the shop boards are sick - Pennswood with a 14.25 wb and a slight taper on both ends.

My biggest gripe for most shop's online presence is that they only list the width of decks and only have a stock image of the board, leaving me to guess what the overall shape might be like or look for the board elsewhere with more details on measurements etc. It's 2020, I want to see the shape from the top, the side, and I want to know the length, wb, nose/tail measurements. If smaller shops want to compete with the likes of SW/Tactics, they need to make better sites and be less lazy about including specs that idiots like myself obsess over.

Give them a call. Customer service is where core shops will always win. I guarantee any shop will be more than happy to answer questions over the phone. And also, managing a website/inventory is a full-time job in itself. Most shops only have a few employees. Give them some slack, for all they give back.

You’re not wrong. Just that I’m always worried I’m annoying the piss out of them with my incredibly specific/stupid questions.

I don’t live on the east coast but I definitely will use this thread as a place to order from when I need cant go local. This thread is an awesome idea.

Someone should compile this info into a thread like the wood shop thread and have all east coast list a Midwest  and west coast kinda how the wood shop thread has a BBS PS Stix etc column/list

I hope 2020 is the start of putting money back in skateboarding and not kooky mail orders and Nike

If you don't act like a total kook I'm sure they won't mind at all. Shops aren't usually slammed with business. They'll have time to answer questions if it gets them a sale.

That was kinda what I was thinking, like if there was a "shops with online stores thread" and once you opened it there was a thread for every state containing this list. I considered making this into a whole website too. With like a map that you could zoom in/out and shops would be pinned all over.

Nocturnal and Kinetic have merged... not sure in what capacity. I don’t live in Philly anymore.
Kinetic has co-owned Nocturnal since 2013. Merging the websites makes inventory a lot easier to track.

Have bought a couple decks and 2 pairs of eS from them recently. All decently priced and shipped super quick.

been toying around with an idea similar to this.

was gonna make this a separate thread but whatever - one thing i noticed while collecting shop info is how lacking many of these shops are when it comes to their online store front - if they even have one.

So many shops just have a facebook page, or a static html site which hasnt been updated probably since it first went up.

I know there are factors, such as money being tight already, so how exactly do you fund someone to update the shop site with inventory in stock?

The only other reason i can think of, is that stock is turned over so quickly that its not worth the time to put it on the site?  this would be a good thing for that shop, but i doubt all shops have this issue.

Interested in any shop owners or employees opinion on this

I would be willing to bet that most shops don't have an automatic inventory system that updates when things are sold. It's probably mostly done by hand, individually. And just managing that inventory would be a full time job. Let alone, managing the rest of the website. I'm sure the vast majority of shops just don't have the resources to support all that. But they might be motivated to improve that if they started seeing more online business. And they might start seeing more online business if we could get this list together. Idk sort of a long shot, but at the very least it would be a helpful resource for skaters. I have a background in tech, and I have a couple developer friends, I think I'm going to start looking into this. Let's keep gathering shops/sites in this thread for the time being.

Beyond just the time involved, I'm not trying to be snarky here but a lot of shop owners aren't exactly well educated and probably don't know a whole hell of a lot about technology let alone running a well maintained and tracked e-commerce/inventory system. It's getting better as easy to use systems like shopify and bigcartel have caught on but that brings another issue in that a lot of shop sites aren't super professional and well made so integrating any e-commerce package into them is probably not easy. It's probably easier to start from scratch and that's a tough pill to swallow if you just paid someone to make you a site a year or two ago.

I'd love for every site to be like premier or FA skates or aegir or any of the other sites that are well done and make it easy but just being realistic I think we're still some time away from that truly being standard.

I agree. I think this could help spark a change though. Keep dumping sites/shops in this thread. I'm gonna reach out to my web developer friends today and see how difficult this would be. My one buddy would probably love to help me with this.

Fuck it, let's make it national. Please include city and state with your site url. I would appreciate it if you added the address too. I spoke with my dev buddy this morning and he wants me to get all this data together.
