Cross locked bs 5050 on flat bars. Never had a good flat bar growing up so I never figured them out. Luckily the diy spot has a really long 6in tall circle rail to do em on and finally got the courage to start doing a few on the taller one today. Did a line where I did back 50 on the little one and then carve around and do then back 50 the bigger one, felt good

I've been trying to learn nollie back tails over past few months and cannot get myself to turn out consistently. I can slide them fairly consistently but getting out has eluded me. So many times I end up sliding a short bit and sticking but end up on the top of the curb on sidewalk side or I just slide until i slide out.
I really want this one. It's the 1st genuinely new trick I'm trying to learn in ages.
So close but so far...

Where are you looking when you do them?
I’ve found that if you look slightly the direction you’re sliding your head is turned so your shoulders naturally follow your head and the rest of your body follows.

Trying to learn how to tre, its been a month and still no progress. I was able to land a couple almost a year ago but ive come up empty handed ever since.

Right now I can "pop" the board and it can do the full rotation and flip, but it goes so high up in the air that im unable to catch it. I end up using my front foot to reach for it when my board hits the ground, so it just looks like a wonky no comply trick. If i try to pop less then the tre never even happens in the first place.

I might try it up a bank or just give up alltogether.
If you haven’t tried fakie tre, I would try that. It’s easier to get the flip without putting that much pop into it. Once you have fakie tre, regular tre will come easier.

Exiting mid ledge from a BS crooked grind, I'm not asking for a Tiago-sized nollie out, just a clean mid ledge exit. I best I get are awful ones where i go from crook to noseslide to coming out regular. The times I've tried nudging out mid ledge I end up primo not can't pull myself far away from the ledge to stop my nose from getting caught on it again.

You need to practice the nollie out from a crook stall. 4:18 in Ben's video: https://youtu.be/KjOvwoExz8E?t=258

Once you can nollie out of the stall, you need to pop into the crooked grind from the right angle to get your weight in the right place for the nollie out. If you get into the crooked grind right, you can stand on top of it and popping out will feel the same as the stall.

Gonna try and use that little nugget as soon as this heel bruise/pain goes away.

Been putting a lot of work into varial heels and have them very consistent on flat. Need to take them to some new terrain. Was playing around with foot positioning and scoop/flick power and was able to flip a half decent laser around. Still in the crawling phase of learning this trick but this could be a decent step out of my current plateau with flip tricks. Found that putting my front heel on the toe side bolts and splitting the ball of my back foot where the rail meets the pocket with my toes pointed slightly back works for me to get the flip and rotation where it needs to be. Does land a bit behind like when someone is first learning front shuvs. I'll probably need to take this to a bank or launch ramp since my pop is limited with this technique. Trying to figure these out has been fun. Very unattractive stance for this trick as ones I've seen typically has the front foot near the center of the board with a toe or two hanging off. I think there's a nice one over a street gap somewhere in fully flared? Could be bag of suck? Some LA spot shot with a yellowish filter. Plan on going to a roller hockey rink after work tomorrow to fiddle with it some more. Did a 360 flip for the first time in a few years the other day and that gave me some confidence to branch out with my flat ground bag.

I've been doing various lasers for 20+ years using your method and can confirm it is the optimal one for results. For rotation speed try exaggerating the back foot placement even harder, with the heel of your sole locked against the pocket before you pop, that is how you control it and because the position is more contrived seems to automatically spring into the correct sort of 'scissor kick' to get the board going around. Over time becomes as easy/natural as f/s pop.
