What do you all in here skate?  I skate mainly transition and usually ride an 8.  I grew up on 7.625/7.75/7.875 so 8 is fairly wide for me.  8.25 is massive and I consider it a cruiser board.

See every board post above
7.2-7.75 lol mainly flatground and skateparks with ledges. Skating transition on a smaller board is WAY more fun than riding a heavy wide boat. Just something about 5.0 lows hitting coping feels great lol

Haha you’re right I could’ve just gone through the thread.  I was hoping to start a convo with that as the focus though.  And I agree, pushing a boat around while trying to carve is not fun.  I definitely have. Ore control with a smaller setup

Overall look and how a person controls a small board the style is so much better.
Perfect example is the PJ Ladd line that Mark sucio copied. That 8.3 board look so bad lol

Mark’s setup look’s especially fucked imo, the weird twin long tail/nose thing, and yes, the bigger than anyone needed for vert deck isn’t helping.

Like someone said previously in the thread: kicking a large board around is tiring.

This has me cracking up, what exactly does Black Flag have to do with measuring your dick starting behind ya nuts?

Skateboarding is nothing but a game to find the right fits to appear like you're a proportional human being instead of a midget or a giant.

Glue makes decks in normal steep kicks deep concave like FA boards but noticed the size 775 and maybe the 8 comes in 2 molds to pick from(standard or Leo specific mold)

It is slightly shorter than I usually like to skate but tre flips so easy with a flick of the toe lol with how mellow the board is. Also with the many fingers of flat it is a manual machine and flatground is so easy on it.
Since it’s on extremely mellow kicks the shorter deck doesn’t feel so cramped. It feels kinda like the tae and Carrol reissue but modern concave.
The nose is like a perfect tail length but the actual tail is shorter than I like but I have no issue what so ever doing tail slides

13.7-14.125wb is my comfort zone anyway. Palace 775 has the same wb
The quasi 9 inch football has a 13.75 wb

I’m very intrigued by that deck, but feel like 31.25 is my limit on length. Maybe it’ll be a hot one tho. The concave and shape look so good

Depends how you measure the length. The glue deck I measure with the concave it measures about 31in and measure straight across it’s about  30.7

I’m about 5ft 9 with size 9 shoes  I find 14in wb to feel good without having that spread out longboard feeling

I generally measure straight across, just because that’s how I was shown long ago. With the concave might make more sense, but straight across gives me the reference I’m looking for. Aaaaanyway, I find length to be a highly important, oft neglected measurement. I’m barely 5’8”, short legs, size 10. I can adjust to most wb’s, prefer shorter, and most widths, prefer 8. But boards over 32, and under 31 fucking mess with me.
Of course this makes me want to try it. Mostly because that shape is super flat.

Love looking through this thread. Knowing myself, I’ll be equipped with a 7.75 and 5.0 lows within a week or two. Maybe I’ll tell myself it’s a good option to help me recover from knee surgery.

Y'alright

Feel like this might have been said on this thread a couple hundred times but I'm thinking of biting the bullet and getting a 7.75. Had a session on my mate's deck which is a very similar set up to mine and it felt very good to skate. Had better control and overall that shit fit like a glove and felt less clumbsy.

Gonna be moving down from an 8", but what's the consensus when it comes to trucks and wheels? My current set up has Film 5.25s (which are equivalent to a 139, except it's 135mm) with 52mm Spitfire OG Classics (non-formula four wide cunts with the green spiral on them)

I think 129s are usually matched with 7.75, so any truck that’s 7.625.  Does anybody make trucks that are exactly 7.75?

Difficult question. With 7.75s I usually go 5.0s/129s. Mostly because that’s how it used to be, in my youth. 139s/5.2s/147s (8”) trucks work fine too.
The green eagle, the 7.81 shape, is tricky because I really don’t know which truck to run…great board tho.
I’ve never gotten into the small aces or tensors, but I guess they have the 7.75 axle, never measured them myself.

I have the Ace af1 low 22 since they came out last year
Have not skated 129's since then and I think I have three sets sitting at home

The AF1's 7.75's lows are good and yes they measure 7.75

When ace 33s first came out, I was super hyped on them. Had the white ones, loved em. Since then, I’ve fucking hated almost every ace setup. Rare instances I’ve had a great time on 33s, 44s, and even 55s. Actually I did really like the 55s, but I don’t like boards that big. I swear those have a different geo (they don’t, I’m just an idiot).
Not stoked on the af1s.
Buuuuuuut, the one constant with the setups that worked for me was short wb, and often bigger wheels.
Glad they work for you, I just got tired of trying to get all of the parts lined up for it to work, for me.

Damn ! You make me want to get back on a skinny board !

I've been skating 8.00 for 5 years now, I've skated 8.125, 8.25 before, but that was when I was doing a lot of gap ! Now, I skate a lot a lot of flat , Sometimes park, banks, hip transfer, and very rarely ledge.. I think a 7.875 board, even a few centimeters less than an 8, can help me with this style of skating and for certain tricks.. ! ::) ;D

I'm 5'8", and 8 shoes size.

Many say you can't have control with a small deck, but when I see PJ ladd or Luan riding 7.8.. ahah

I used to always try to make sure my trucks was slightly wider than the deck so the wheels can be as flush. Never liked any of the magic carpet look. I used to ride 5.2 with 7.5 and I think on 7.75 looks perfect.
These days I just strictly ride 5.0s and got used to how they look on 775.
Wide trucks don’t mean better lock. Smaller trucks feels better for locking into grinds imo
