honestly i could be wrong but, i’m assuming this is just one of the cuts that nike is rumored to be making. i can’t really think of one person that has left nike by choice, especially someone riding for red bull who doesn’t mind being deemed a “sell out” there’s absolutely no reason you would quit nike if you are honest about being apart of skateboarding partially for the check, i think the way he worded himself was probably to avoid the honest “i got the boot” and make it sound like it was his choice, this is just my assumption though with absolutely no backing evidence

Did you have a fake ID?
Yeah. I had a fake ID. I was smoking pot, drinking and getting laid, having a good time and living the life. As cliché as it sounds, that’s what happened. I started filming for the Transworld video and I was coming up to L.A. a lot and skating with Jason Hernandez. I put that part out and when I was filming for that, I quit Nike and started riding for Vans. To this day, I think I’m the only person to ever quit Nike. I don’t know anyone that has ever quit Nike. Before Spain, I put a pair of Vans on and filmed a line in Vans. I was like, “Why am I wearing Nikes? I can’t even feel my board wearing these.” I can actually feel my board in Vans. I had never skated Vans before because I always had a shoe sponsor.

as far as i remember it dylan was getting on vans to turn am having had that quicksilver part right when nike s nothing but the truth came out. now thinkin of it maybe he hoped to be in it.
he was for sure coming up from the nike flow program after the osiris days- vans might have cut him a check and give him am status. at the same time he just got on rasa libre.

i might be wrong... but his switch from flow to am used to be covered in the tws news section as far as i remember ha ha- regarding the quote from a decade later i d say the same thing if i were him of course- he s the goat! R I P!!!
