Been running these lately and feel great when skating (also been wanting to get my Lucas Puig on). Big downside is not being able to hold things in pockets when being active though.

As a fellow fan of the cult of Puig.
Someone should make shorts like this with actual pockets (that zip shut).

Bump

PSA to anyone looking at Quasi shorts: don't skate in them.

These are the Quasi murmur shorts. They ripped at the crotch bad while I was skating today, literally from just bending down. I've skated in them many times before so this rip felt super random.

Thankfully there was a skate shop nearby (shout-out Anchor Skate Supply in St Pete FL, you guys are awesome), and thank the higher powers that I didn't run into any kids while getting to the shop.

what was the underwear situation here, commando, jockstrap, tighty whitey, g-string?

Just boxers, but I'd rather not risk getting reported on in a place I'm not from :v

Reviving cuz this is 2 years old and almost Summer- what's good in the world of shorts these days?

I'm taller and have tried Patagonia and Prana but want something that's not athletic. I got some Carhartt shorts last summer I lost and I remember having to order 3 of the same size and they all fit different so I don't want that hassle again. I like stuff to be sorta loose but not Big Boy. A solid dad short.

I dig these Levis shorts, loose enough but not totally baggy. very comfy and the elastic waist is pretty great.

Sorry couldn’t resist

Shouldn’t resist. This is awesome. Thanks for sharing.

Looking for any insight into Patagonia Baggies. Any opinions of em’? I’m running an old pair of whatever I copped from H&M years ago…want something more sustainable, long lasting.

As much as I hate buying from places like H&M, their shorts are cheap and pretty reliable. I’ve looked into the Patagonia baggies too but just can’t justify spending $60 on shorts. Gonna try my luck with some Carhartt shorts this year and hope they work out.

I bought a pair of RVCA Chainmail shorts and I'm liking them so far. They do fit at least one size too big though even though I got my normal size.

dickies sk8 double knees start just barley above the knee on me and i feel weird wearing them, i'm almost 6'3", they are like double shins, wtf. they're 36x32's and i wear 34x32 in most pants true to size.

Patagonia Baggies. Just copped a pair and they’re legit. Seemingly the do it all short; deep ass pockets, snap secured back pocket and fit TTS. Some real adult shit.

The 5 inch is Puig territory. Went with the 7 inch for flexibility. Worth the cash, even better if you can get from worn wear.

Just ordered 3 of these. I really like the light, stretchy quick dry shorts that you can wear to a nice dinner or to the beach/lake. I haven't tried these but they look right and being surf brand guessing that's the use they are targeting. 55 but I'll wear good shorts for like 5+ years.

I wear a uniform at work and you get two pairs of shorts, I'm the only one at work that gets them and I only wear them when I'm skating. Every new contract they forget that I have shorts so I never turn them in an have too many pairs. I highly recommend getting a job where they provide a uniform and socks, I hardly have to do laundry

I just got a pair of Dickies 11” duck carpenter shorts. They’re a very modern “cool” pair of shorts. A little bit loose and extend just past the knee . I got a clip in them and didn’t look stupid

I have been very hyped on cutoff dickies lately
I have a lanky physique and I feel like almost all other shorts look awkward on me, especially long inseams
if you aren't a coward, try cutting them off mid-thigh. it feels amazing too.

yeh somethings fucky with the skate version of the double knees

i also found that the double knee patch is lower than the standard pant

usually on the hunt for shorts when summer rolls around and I’ll buy a pair but I’ll also end up just cutting up some relaxed/loose fit chino pants. I’ll end up wearing those more than any other shorts haha

last year I cut up some old looser fit rvca chinos and habitat team issue pants

i like short shorts
while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo

Same as always. Old Dickies cut just above the knee. But I don't really skate in shorts... old man legs with weird bald patches... and as soon as I expose skin guaranteed my trucks or grip want to get intimate with my shins and knees.

I’ll second the jorts recommendation. I also like Passport Workers shorts and Patagonia Baggies.

Baggies are sick. Ready for anything in those.

Swim trunks with side and back pockets that I sewed belt loops on when it’s 90+ and humid.

Cut off shorts I sewed hem lines in when it’s 80+

I love patagonia baggies. I wear them all summer and in the house year round. I buy the bathing suit ones and cut the net out. One time I found a bathing suit pair without a net and I was stoked. I thought that they were mediums because the price tag had a m on them and then when I got home I saw the tag in the shorts had a xl on the tag. Turned out that m was just an upside down w and I bought woman’s bathing suit cover up patagonia baggie shorts. Here’s a clip from 2 years ago of a quick session skating them in the nj august heat for 15 minutes before I went back in the ac in the woman’s baggies.

Right now I’m wearing patagonia men’s like hiking or atheletic shorts with the tights build in. They’re made stretchy and comfy. Don’t look like baggies but a great comfy pair of shorts. Can’t go wrong with baggies. They must have went up in price though from what people are saying in this thread.

Real talk I love shorts. I own mad shorts. Dime leisure shorts are sick - I really like those. When it’s hot you need to stay cool. I don’t understand the hating of short. My dad wears sweat shorts all year round.
