Dude, I remember being legitimately scared as early as years back when I first started witnessing some people taking that Donovan Strain / Koston rematch that ends on 'the lights going out' seriously. You had people in their twenties defending how 'legit' that game really had to be since it was Battle at the Berrics (a.k.a. supposedly prestigious and serious) all over the Internet I remember, when things as simple as the brutal black screen or random background stuff should have been an instant giveaway, let alone the general piss take tone. The fake aspect there was actually explicit all along and yet had its deniers with the kind of impassioned, blind wrath one would expect from literal cult followers, funnily enough. When one would rather believe in a myth despite its obvious debunking in front of their very eyes to the point of persisting defending it with such vigor, and believe in the word of merchants over facts because they've themselves spent years mentally developing those weird self-identification patterns is one aspect of this society that is so crazy to me.

They prolly decided not to keep one posted due to competitors dropping out with such frequency; they’d have to pay their web dood (presumably the same one responsible for the Mama Skate pants price “typo”) to update that thing once every week.
As it is, they’ve only got to do so once every TWO weeks… You know, when there’s an actual game of skate.

After this shit show started I began rewatching Batb1-2-3-4-5 and those seasons?? if you wanna call them that, are seriously where the truly golden matchups were. Arto vs Chico. Rodrigo TX vs Pete Ramondetta. CK1 vs Ronnie Creager. CK1 vs Torey Pudwill where Tpuds got relentlessly fucked. MJ vs Johnny Layton. Rick Howard vs Heath. Benny Fairfax vs. Paul Shier. None of the games since then have really hyped me up as much as seeing those names on the bracket when I was in high school in the back of computer animation class typing "https" to get past the firewall to watch the games in the shittiest quality imaginable.
