Exactly and too thin on the pro/skate ones.   Just want normal shoelaces

.

Re short laces - I think after a couple of skates, the suede shoe stretched some and the laces fit a lot more comfortably, or maybe the padded tongue flattened out some as well.

Could also be the reason a lot of people only lace them up to the metal eyelet too, hence the reasoning behind leaving the top one or two lace holes as I think that debate could go on for ever.

Wrong way around. The laces are short because the Halfcab handbook says, you must not lace up top two eyelets.

Ha yeah for sure!!!

Seems like the Classic Half Cab laces are longer, after re checking.  Just tried on a couple of pairs including the all black Skate range and I only did the laces up to the hole above the eyelet and they worked great to walk around in for half the day.

I guess if people want to do them right up, they gotta really pull those things tight or change out laces to longer ones, or as already said, just follow the handbook and only lace them up to where ever the laces allow.

The average Half Cab laces were 140 to 160 cm long depending on the model, same as Old Skool (140 cm) or Sk8 Hi (160 cm) but then with some having a thicker tongue and others thinner, I could have a lot of lace left over when I had the 160 cm laces in them.

A year ago I got my first pair ever after 15 years on a skateboard, now its the only shoe I wear. Not included is the 6+ pairs I skated through this year. Skating the black/white pair and the green/black pair right now. The Nick Michel colorway is one of my all time favorite pairs of shoes I've ever skated. Problem? What problem?

Yeah I’m missing the classic ones these days. I have been only skating the new skate ones since the came out, so around five years (I was skating the classic sewed in insole half cabs before making the switch to the skate ones), and the last couple pairs haven’t felt as good. Not sure if it’s me or the quality. Whenever a pair of 92 skate ones come out they’re usually pretty good. I just put a burgundy pair of 92 from winter to dust that I was trying to milk because my two pairs on ice just don’t feel right. I do like that they have been regularly making pairs with black tongues. I only will skate them with black tongues and white laces. I told myself I would only skate half cabs for the rest of my life to not mess with the formula but now I’ve got a wandering eye for skate shoes.

I have a pair of dunks for chilling and I actually cruised them at the skatepark last weekend but mostly on accident. I forgot what shoes I was wearing. I did like them. 1st try 360 flip, nollie flip, backside wall ride and some other stuff but my kickflips were butt. Going through a crisis.

Fuck anything maga! such a bummer that Cab is a maga kook on top of everything else. Love the shoes and always feel good wearing something that so many rad people have done sick shit in, but i can’t justify buying another pair as long as he is getting royalties from sales. At this point, I’d argue that the shoes can hardly be attributed to him anymore but i don’t wanna fill his pockets. Anyone know how much Cab actually gets (if any) for sales on the shoes?

Damn didn't know about that. Thanks for letting me know. Just bought a pair of those vegan canvas ones, first pair of half cabs in probably a decade. Won't be buying anymore.

Just to be clear, we don't know if Cab is full MAGA. But  he championed Charlie Kirk as "Brilliance" and was not open to any critique, to the extent he blocked people who merely liked dissenting opinions. He certainly comes across as a smug Christian know-it-all at this stage in his life.

Not sure why he can't be more gracious with his faith like Ray Barbee for instance, but born agains might have more to prove IDK....

I honestly just assumed he was based on his post about kirk (which I understand is problematic to make the assumption). I just assume that he must be slightly on the MAGA train if he is choosing to block people who are against kirk. Cab being a kook for the millionth time…can’t really say i’m surprised. :-/

I have some Half-Kirks in that color... Haven't worn them since Charlie died but will likely pull them out of the closet at some point.

At first I saw what you wrote and thought you changed it as an ode to Lenny Kirk wearing them, but then saw that you meant Charlie Kirk as a dig at Cab being a Charlie Kirk enthusiast. I'm just gonna call them Half-Galls from now on instead.
Also, it's always between Half-Galls and Old Skools when it comes to my all time favorite Vans shoe. I go through phases of which one I like more, but honestly gotta give it to the Old Skool. It's not tied to Cab's kooky ass, and I also can recall just as many epic cases of dudes killin' it in Old Skools as there were dudes killin' it in Half-Galls. Some that come to mind are Gerwer in Cash Money Vagrant, Racist ass Ethan Fowler in Tincan Folklore, and Markovich kickflip Carlsbad Gap.

As far as I can recall, people have said the original Half Cab has been discontinued.  There is only the Half Cab Skate version in circulation these days, but the new cup sole variants are the new thing on the scene, so I don't know if they are going to be around for a while or what.
