looks like AWS had a "Creeps" series, AVE got two with this one being the more vampire-ish one. this is from 2001 on their site via the internet archive

&
here's the other one for good measure

Someone could spend some serious time looking through all those decks.

Shows about 245 files in the deck pics folder:

https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://alienworkshop.com/decks/*

That specific deck was up for sale too - $850 is a bit much for me, but it went unsold:

damn, might be easier to just dl and rehost them in a gdrive or something just so there's a better view than links. i went the slightly more tedious route of clicking through old flash/html pages lol

I think I was a bit keen, as when I went to look, they are just statistics on how often those files were updated.

Still there were a ton of boards put out around that period, AWS at the peak of that time maybe?

Already looking through the site from your link and seeing so much amazing stuff I had completely forgotten about.

It's so weird how much better the old AWS decks look than Darkroom stuff.

Took the words right out of my mouth, the last series he did that I enjoyed was the Primitive Collab.

Are AWS and habitat the exact same shapes?

Any other brand with this exact shape?

Also shoe questions: do you like to skate superstars and / or half cabs or does it feel weird to you?

Best coping alternatives on a portable quarter pipe? Steel is expensive and heavy as hell, PVC is deadly slick, beer can coping would be cool but probably heavier than the steel. It's only going to be 4'-6' wide so it doesn't even need to grind or slide really, just want to lock in on stalls

I feel like those shapes that AWS and Habitat use are exclusive to them, as no one else seems to have that same shape going on right now.  From one deck of the same size (8.5) they were the same, but I couldn't say for everything in their range, but I am assuming they are, given they are run from the same place and have the same listed dimensions on their websites.

The older boards in normal shapes were the same as DLX shapes and sizes (of which I still have some) but they haven't done those more normal shapes in a while and everything I have seen lately from both brands have been pretty much the same, medium long blunt or squared off kicks with short wheelbases on the BBS made boards.

Both do seem to be different on other wood from various places round the world, with different shapes too, so just be aware of that.  They are BBS in USA and here in AU, but EU might have a mix as does South Americas and Asian areas, as per people's comments about it.

Half Cabs all the way for me, but I also have a lot of different options in Vans shoes.

I feel like normal steel coping is still the best overall for price, weight and convenience.

The same as street sign poles here, and came in lengths of up to 6m which were easy enough to cut down to the right size.

When I was growing up a lot of the local ramps would be made with "found" coping, be it fencing materials, sign posts or something similar, but the last one I built was bought and I didn't think it was that expensive from a fencing wholesale place, the 50mm pipe.

I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

I find all of my steel coping in alleyways

Steel will be lighter than the wood you use. 2 3/8" OD (2.375 inch) or 60mm is my favorite

Fill it with spray foam to take some of the ting away

I thought about getting that G&S one myself, but my Zip Zinger is still fine. These are all in the ballpark of being similarly dimensioned

Idk if anyone will be able to answer this question for me and relies on having two very specific boards handy. Is the Tommy Guerrero shape from Real similar to his jump ramp shape that Krooked put out for his guest board? I’ve been wanting another one of those since, uhhh, 2003 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks! So I’ll stick to AWS/habitat boards from bbs (the shop I order from always lists the woodshops) and get me some half cabs.

There really were some crazy out there AWS graphics hey?

It is amazing looking over all those old catalogs.

Is there some central database with old catalogs? Seems like something worth creating, they exist for a thousand other niche products and interests. A CCS archive would be rad.

Please don't forget the Human Skateboards catalogs. :D

The crazy thing is there really is almost nothing about them around in searches, but there are still a fair number of their boards on artofskateboarding.com when I checked - only a couple from 1994, some from 1995, some from 1996 and a couple from 1997 when they folded.

This might have something to do with it, although I know nothing about the brand or what happened:

https://skateboarding.fandom.com/wiki/Human_Skateboards

Human Skateboards was a brand from the mid 90's that also distributed Enemy and Farm Skateboards. The team included Andy Macdonald, Laban Pheidias, Adil Dyani and a very young Elyssa Steamer. Human released a video called "Radioactive Throw Up" in late 1996. Apparently Human Skateboards was up to some shady business and ended around mid '97 after months of FBI surveillance

This is an interesting read, for all of the ten seconds Human is mentioned (with an ad pic)

https://www.jenkemmag.com/home/2018/08/14/happened-gershon-mosley/

https://www.jenkemmag.com/home/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Gershon_Mosley_Human_ad.jpg

Going by what you said, this is the most likely:

"Finaly the last missing part of the puzzle, and probably the hardest to find, a Human Skateboards deck, very simple graphics with a handmade chest outline on a white and yellow background, without anything written on it, so not a Gershon model I guess. Pretty sure the top ply was blue with a little black Human logo, but not sure it helps. 98/00 I think."

5boro regularly has two cruiser shapes I think a 7.6 and an 8 (altho I think the 8 is a little bit more like a standard sized board but cut into a shape)

Yeah I found the Gershon Mosley's interview on Jenken while searching fo this Human board.

Human had the FBI after their ass? Interesting...

As far as I know I've never been chased by any men in black in a black car when I rode that deck, so can't help about that. :D

The board that you found could be the one I'm looking for. I remember a less strange chest and a more yellowish background, but the style of the chest's outline is exactly the same, so maybe my memories aren't so clear, unless there was a series...so much mysteries. :D

Many thanks for that!

EDIT : After looking again, I'm pretty sure it was this board.

Re Wiki and FBI - I probably wouldn't believe everything on there, but who knows.

Memories can be a funny thing though.  So many boards I have looked up from my past just didn't seem like the right ones, but even digging up old photographs I have, they were the boards, it would seem.

I do recall finding an old destroyed 90s board of mine a while back from that era, as well as seeing some new old stock people have had and thinking it was so skinny, so flat and so bad overall, but that is what we all skated.

It is much the same for the 80s boards too, which just seen so weird now in their original form, but I really like the modern concave in the same shapes from 80s boards, so it is just what you are used to and what you know too.
