Thanks for digging into this y’all. I don’t think I’ve ever skated an HLC board. Saw some mixed feedback on here before so maybe I’ll dig around a bit more before trying one

Makes sense that it was started under Pawnshop and probably uses the same woodshop. Donovan Piscopo started Blem and his dad owns Pawnshop if I remember right

I DM’d the Blem IG acct but haven’t heard back yet. I’ll update if I do

Wasn't it the same as Blast - Quarter Dist or something?

Could be totally wrong, hence posting from this account and not Woodshop account, but I thought someone else had said similar - that or unknown from China, which doesn't help much, but people have said they skate well enough and they like them, so they can't all be bad.

From search BLAST, this came up, still not sure but they seem to do a lot of business in EU and have twins, so maybe worth looking into:

I am riding these:

Made in Germany, also ship bulk:

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

Thanks Mark-man, another option for twins at discount prices is always welcome given the challenging economic times. Was thinking of riding a shorter board, past few boards have been over 32" (AWS, Thank You).

If I'm not mistaken on the B2C HLC site they have Roger twin tail (8.5) on sale.

Saw that too, deciding between the HLC twins or the skatedeluxe ones, specifically this https://www.skatedeluxe.com/en/p/skatedeluxe-mystery-twin-tail-8-5-skateboard-deck-black_p171543 since VAT is included in the price.

Edit - emailed skatedeluxe and while they couldn't give a specific name they did say they were made in Spain, my guess is HLC

Might be a long shot, but anyone know which woodshop Blem uses and dims for their decks? Based on photos, they look similar to FA/Hockey boards with the big noses and steep kicks. If the dims are the same, I might try Blem and save $15 lol
I can verify that they are Full nose PS Stix and have the same shape and concave as the FA/Hockey boards. They do sell out fast though.

Sounds like HLC are expanding their US operation? I wonder if many brands will switch over to them with the tariff situation...?

Update from Blem. Looks like the same shape as FA based on the dimensions and they’re gonna switch to HLC

Forgot to take a pic when new but trying something weird, and for the most part I quite like it.

Palace 8.375 (the dumb one with the absurdly long 14.81 wheelbase, 32 length, and tiny kicks)
Venture v8 5.8 with both trucks in v8 mode, makes the proportions actually quite reasonable
Spitfire f4 classic 99a 54mm
Quantum Isotopes
Pepper grip

Will rant about it in gear madness/venture thread later
[close]

Shit of course I want some impossible complete to skate... The gear madness is pretty crazy if the solution is to buy new trucks instead of finding the right board..  ;D

I remember having some AWS deck that had really steep kicks is it still the same?

And yeah HLC at least here in europe is on the thicker side. I know many people who like their boards but for me they look lower quality than the other staple manufacturers.

Is Primitive back on Clutch after BBS? I recall their 8.5s being 14.5 WB, now they're listed as 14.3. Could be an option if I need a stack of 8.38 and 8.5s.

Got the HLC (I think), no stickers on them:
8.5 x 32 x 14.25
8.25 x 31.875 x 14.25

Popsicle tips, slightly more taper than AWS twins, similar to Clutch shape (Thank You).

L'etat - Control MFG
« Reply #1966 on: May 30, 2025, 02:34:44 PM »
I noticed L'etat isn't on the list. Pretty sure they get their decks made at Control MFG in Quebec. I just got one the other day from my local skate shop in Orillia. Good quality deck. Control is stepping their game up the customization on their website is sick compared to PS Stix and BBS.

I made an account just to post this lol

Anyone heard gennerator having US manufacturing partner, as well as bbs?

On their site they say boards exclusively from BBS, but that doesn't mean that they wouldn't also have other goods supplied from someone else?

Curious to see or read anything else, but don't worry about going through a ton of posts just to find something unless you are keen or have the time.

Adding this here, from the Twins thread.

Primitive "Made in USA" boards are made at Quincy.

Adding it to the front page now as well.

* For anyone who was asking if they had closed:

Quincy (2012 - 2019, now 2021+ again)
USA
https://www.instagram.com/quincymfg/
(CLOSED 2019, reopened again 2021)

Got one of the Primitive P-Rod 8.0 twin nose in and the dimensions are spot on, but I don't think they are BBS boards, due to the stickers... HLC Maybe?

Primitive boards with "made in usa" stickers are made at Quincy MFG in Michigan.

AWS and Habitat are Medium High, rode lots of them over the last 2 years, far from mellow. Long and full nose, not square.

Looking at Quincy MFG IG page… last post was end of May. Go like 6 posts down to Crob holding a Muska Rising Sun deck, that is over 4 years old, and there’s comments asking if Quincy MFG is still open, and someone responding that they used to work there, and that it is closed.

Also, I can’t find a website.

Primitive bought their own woodshop?

If so, not a bad move.

Not being in USA to really dig any deeper, but this guy would most likely have all the answers, as he seems to do direct business with or is also part of the program at Quincy.

Some brands or businesses just don't seem to have much of an online presence themselves, but also most woodshops don't really deal directly with the general public, but have someone to handle accounts or other things for them.

Just got my Hockey Kevin Rodrigues Keep Sake deck and it says “Made in China” instead of Mexico/BBS. A bunch of shops here in Australia just got their Hockey drops so maybe they have switched production for Export boards to China??

I have a Hockey Belzinz deck also and it’s a BBS board, the dip and graphic quality is identical. Curious

Interesting and first I have heard or seen, but not surprised.

If you stand on it or check the concave and kicks, are they BBS like in spoon kicks, or more generic flat faces as per many other China made boards?

If you are not sure, even just a more basic question - does it feel like the usual Hockey board concave or not?

Thanks for posting too!

No worries! I was really surprised. Compared to my other Mexican made Hockey boards, the kicks aren’t as blunt/squared, the concave is similar, the finish and thickness are the same also. I’d say it’s slightly heavier though, but only by a little bit. I’ll post some comparison shots soon

Yes I don't think there would be any other.

Had to check, and Orchard shop was using them for wood back in 2022 or so, but I can't say I have heard much or anything about them really.

At least the post with info is here, so checking socials and more to see if there is much else there to speak of.
