Real deck, OJ keyframe 58's, Sure Grip trucks with 3 washers, SKF bearings, Bones soft, #8 panhead sheet metal screws.

The MPI complete probably isn’t worth it unless you don’t have spare wheels or bearings.
 You can find the fiberglass ones all over eBay for less than $10. The trucks are just penny board trucks that you can grab for around $11 a set. They’re actually really good and can get super turny if you swap out the shit bushings, cut the top bushing down a little, ditch the top washer.

It’s just this complete, raw shitty penny trucks with kingpin slip, rubber 1/4 risers, wide cut 59mm cruiser wheels and abec 5 bearings that actually roll

Take out the garbage bushings and slap some grip and it’s fun, turny and stable

8 thick plys so it rides like a plank

If you end up cutting your own board, maybe you can replicate the flex feel by cutting up an old vx/flight deck. I haven't tried cutting a flight deck, but if I find an affordable jigsaw on Amazon I'll cut mine up and get back to you

I’ve done this to a couple flights now, and they do have a bit of spring, but nothing crazy like a fiberglass one.

But having a super-durable second board out of a regular flight deck makes the price worth it.

Just wear decent gloves and safety glasses/mask while cutting them up and sanding them. The fiberglass splinters suck.

I have a polarizer and don't *really* have the funds to splurge on a fiber rider, so $40 for a partial fiberglass complete seems worthwhile. I'm a little heavier than you so hoping I can pump & flex the thing a bit and the slightly longer board/wheelbase may provide a slightly different ride experience which should be fun.

All this to say, I've more or less talked myself into grabbing one of these unless there's a major red flag I'm missing

If you're expecting it the MPI deck to be flexy like a fiber rider, I think you're gonna be disappointed like I was. I thought it'd be quite bouncy, but it's really stable and stiff. Not exactly a red flag, but it wasn't what I was anticipating the deck to feel like.

All that being said, I've really enjoyed this setup. It's been super fun getting used to the turn and making runs around the neighborhood.

My recommendation is to lurk for some heated wheel trucks and then either snag the MPI deck on its own for ~$20 or cut out your own polarizer from an old deck. I just feel like buying the complete is wasting $20 on the unknown stock trucks/wheels/bearings.

If you end up cutting your own board, maybe you can replicate the flex feel by cutting up an old vx/flight deck. I haven't tried cutting a flight deck, but if I find an affordable jigsaw on Amazon I'll cut mine up and get back to you

Yeah, that was my main question was *how* flexy it is really, since it’s actually fiberglass around wood. As a secondary option to my current HW polarizer, I wasn’t that stressed about the kit because I could always upgrade trucks/wheels later on or just swap the heated wheel trucks and wheels over.

But I might just save myself the $40 and save up for a fiber rider deck later, and then I can just swap back and forth between my Polarizer deck and fiber rider.

Those mpi decks are garbage as are these weird cut out customs. there's no flex at all if that's what you're looking for. you can literally buy heated wheel boards now and even cheaper on ebay sometimes so no there's no need to make or buy these weird budget boards. penny trucks? cmon now. cutting a flight deck for flex is redarded. just buy a heated wheel board and be grateful they're even available. save your money until you can afford it

I’m guessing you’re the guy who orders the same thing every time at restaurants or bars? Variety is nice sometimes. Oh and penny trucks turn sooooooo much better than the Ace 00s I have on my micro. How’s that for irony?
 FWIW, I do have a polarizer with Suregrips and I’ve tried a friends that has Neil’s trucks on them as well. I personally prefer the Suregrips.
But by all means everybody should ride what you feel they need to.

I got my fiber rider in (don’t worry it’s a certified polarizer) and I totally get why my original polar isn’t going to be ridden anymore, the thing is super fun, I have sure grips on my polarizer, and HW trucks on the fiber rider, and I don’t know I feel like the sure grips definitely have a deeper turn and stuff but they feel more dainty than the HW trucks…also those MPI decks look sick thanks for sharing y’all’s polarizers really enjoy seeing what other people are riding

I went ahead and bought the MPI specifically because of how much I hated @GURNR ’s post.

Will post back my findings, specifically how it compares to my heated wheel polarizer, how much it flexes (if at all) and how the penny board trucks feel.

I have a friend who’s polarizer curious so if it ends up being a fun board I’ll probably give it to him So we can roll around together. If it sucks, I’ll just give it to my dad who grew up skating in that era

More springy than stiff, downhill it’s terrifying because the turn pushes you back out hard but it’s fun for bowl corners and pump tracks

That's the way I roll. I'd flip it around so the wider part is at the front if I were to get one, but I won't as they're way too expensive for me in the UK.

Basically everyone I’ve showed it to has said that before riding it and ended up liking it the way it was meant to be ridden after trying it.

I think it’s wider in the back to give more real estate to pump from and more spring back, it’s just a specific and different feeling you’d have to ride to see

Oh yea wheels! So on my OG polarizer I got mini super juice OJs on it, I think I prefer the sofa tones on the fiber rider more than the OJs, thinking about getting a pair of red sofa tones, but I also hear about rough rider a lot? So for those that have ridden both, which do you prefer?
