Went full dummy mode making this, but at least now I know what not to do.

Even made a vid out of it all

That’s rad and you definitely went well beyond what most would do, so congrats. BTW, just caught a few glimpses of your shop so I can see you do some sort of fab work but is it AC, auto, bikes, art, or something else?
Always good to see another blue collar on here.

Thanks, I messed up the trucks from the get go so I had to go all in haha

I work in a sheet metal shop, we build HVAC ductwork and fittings etc. On the side we build boat trailer fenders, flat track racing frames, gas tanks and all sorts of other stuff. What do you do?

Blob the bank is in Southern California, not sure where you're at but I can pm the location.

yeah, in socal, the palms gave it away.

Sorry didn’t see this before, collision repair for my profession but I do fab work, metal finishing, and make bike parts(forks/bars/frames), custom paint(flake/candy/panels/pinstriping) for fun and side $ when time allows.

https://www.zumiez.com/the-heated-wheel-polarizer-baja-cork-top-27-5-cruiser-skateboard-complete.html

Anyone who’s been on the fence, Zumiez has polarizers on sale for $120-125 including the Baja cork top…. I’m super tempted just to grab even though I definitely don’t need another polarizer

Yeah, I’ll need to try this. I have my polarizer trucks basically rattling loose and I can’t get the turn where I want. Going to try the bones and see if that works for me

Update: grabbed some bones and early returns are good. They’re lower overall than the stock bushings, replacing a barrel bushing is obviously a big deal, and removed the washers. I snapped a photo of the bones soft next to the stock bushings.

And I managed to pick up a G&S surfskate relatively cheap off Ebay. Only had a quick go (after changing the wheels to Ojs), but it rides pretty nice with the stock Suregrip set up.

Do they not use the black washer that comes with the Bones?

When's the last time he put something out?

But yeah that was sick.

And unexpected in two ways, doesn't he have his own wheels? Phasecasters..

I would be curious enough to know the breakdown of money spent in the skate industry by age bracket.

Like there's less 50 year olds skating than 14 year olds, but they have more money and so much stuff is marketed to them they must be spending a lot.

These things are so fun. I'm sure the 7 ply polarizers are fun, but the flex on these flat G&S boards makes them so magical.

I'm 11 stone/155 pounds/70 kg, and there's very little flex for me with the 25" version. Great shape though.

It would be cool if Heated Wheel, G&S or whoever could release versions with different flex, so you could choose depending on your weight. This has been a thing for some old slalom decks.

Hey this has probably been addressed before, but couldn't find it. Do I need to take off the trucks to swap the bushings since the bolt is on the bottom or is it seated in there? Thank you

trucks can stay on board, just hold the lock nut and screw off the bolt.

it is kinda nice to see the from the bottom where the bolt is in the baseplate though. kinda like nut flush ect..

Had some soft bones laying around went ahead and swapped the OG bushings, used the washers unlike HW, definitely has opened up the carve on these things

Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t the HW lower bushings barrels? If that’s the case, bottom conicals open up way more turn. I tried Indy 78s keeping the bottom a barrel with the trucks like 3 threads in the baseplate on Sure Grips. My normal boards turned better. Sanded the 78s into conical like I do for my regular boards and ditched the washers completely. What do you know? Magical turning.

Yea, lower barrel and upper conical, I used the lower one for my cruiser setup

I’ve been skating a homemade polarizer for a while but I bought a Heated Wheel complete from Zumiez when they were having that sale.  It skates so much better.  It’s like a completely different ride. Does anyone know what the wheel base is on a fiber rider?

Thanks for the post on the polarizer sale.
