Blood Meridian is fantastic but I prefer all the Border trilogy books. They are a little less abstract and made me feel like maybe I should try to be more like a stoic cowboy.
I read American Psycho 20 years ago while I was working overnight shifts in a petrol station in the middle of nowhere, wonderful though  very disturbing read. I read somewhere it used to be sold in shrink wrap like a porno because it's content was so upsetting, pretty funny.

Not a cowboy book but speaking of McMurty, The Desert Rose is truly one of his best novels.. Very underrated and at one point was gonna be adapted into a Terrence Malick movie.

I’ll check it out.  Was just about to start Moving On and give Terms of Endearment a go.    Also, highly recommend the trilogy that had Last Picture Show and the book Paul Newmans Hud was adapted from (also the movie is so good and it’s fun to watch Newman’s personal charisma fight against his characters deplorableness

"The only thing he [Mikey] told me was that the other guys pretty much made it in skating and he was trying to bring a new crew together."

Perhaps Mikey is trying to rebrand the IC business model to be more akin to Termites? Little kid drawings for a little kid brand seems like a no-brainer, could even have the riders do their own graphics and pay them with Happy Meals. Maybe their art would be close to or as good as Mikey's.

That rubbed me the wrong way as well. I'll admit that I definitely smoked weed with adults at the skatepark when I was underage, but it was never on camera or anything. It was kind of known that it wasn't ok to make that shit public. In hindsight, it was definitely reckless and sketchy for adults to be giving weed to teenagers at the skatepark, even though these spaces have always been sort of a free for all. With that being said, its weird to see him openly defending this behavior to the skateboarding community at large. In my opinion, he should have refrained from commenting on that part of the situation.
