shoe is so ass
they deserve all the losses
Emerica doing Emerica things.
I agree with you. Emerica should go on a "hiatus" like éS did and get their shit together.
Seems like if they focus all their money and attention on pleasing models on the G6 cupsole and vulc insole combo, and not get too weird, they'll do fine
So what makes pleasing models? People complain that all their shoes are too simple and similar looking, but then don’t like or buy models that look different. Some people want reissues without any changes, other people don’t want the shoes to be the same (not talking about the sole issues on the OG - that bait and switch is a different complaint).
If it’s that simple, what would make a pleasing model that isn’t repetitive but aren’t too weird or too much like an Etnies or éS design?
The fact of the matter is, they don't have money to hire good designers. Being limited to either simple or different and ugly is a budget issue. So given their situation, simple is honestly probably the safer option.
And that's why I'm regularly seen in here vouching for the specific models that DO work from Emerica (and other soletech brands) because the simple, quality models they do get right are what people want/seem to like.
I can't be the arbiter of what satisfies the "pleasing" aesthetic comment I shared earlier. I spoke generally with that sentiment, as I'm not a shoe designer/marketer. In that, whatever is working for them that pleases the consumer is where they should focus attention, imo.
People like Wino Slip ons (vulc and cup), most of the G6 cupsoles, and would like proper reissues if they didn't spread themselves thin tech/cost-wise on those. Therefore, everything else muddies the water with their image/intent.
Every brand should hone in on what they are actually good at, primarily. Emerica is trying to do two things (from my POV) simultaneously and makes both lesser in quality to consumers than if they did a 80/20 split on safe vs risky. I know the G6 tech is expensive, but tech-ish shoes are selling right now, so if they could show skaters that the quality is there with some refreshing designs, I believe they'd do better. The vulc market is so oversaturated. Nearly every brand has a line of vulcs that all look similar to each other (Nike and Vans immediately come to mind), so thinning thr fat there is my top recommendation to win back favor.
TL;DR - Playing strategically safe with designs/tech that works and taking minimally risky design choices is where Emerica should be, until they have Nike, Adidas, etc. presence to convince people with wilder designs. That's my .02
@FUBAR no worries! At first glance, it could confuse anyone until they look a little longer/deeper at the photos/or in person. I hope they treat ya well, though!
