Nature skating is the best. Boardslide a log. Leave that spray paint and tagger shit off the rocks and trees tho. Bridges are fine. Is there still a giant banana at Miley? Is that going over some foul words? That banana is disgusting. Was they trying to make a Chiquita banana reference and didn’t finish cuz the park ranger came up ?????? Is there a satanic cult that lives inside the octagon house or is that just crackheads?

The bubble letters in the banks is weak too.
Graffiti can make a cool spot look like total shit.
Tagging the ground is where toys hang out.

Tagging that guy’s favourite spots with bad graffiti feels amazing.

i don't enjoy seeing dirt-ride clips, like bombing a dirt-hill after a trick, or it being the main trick. i just do not like seeing it. i don't know why. it just creates a sweaty dirty dusty itchy feeling. this does not apply if just the rollaway of some stair or rail trick or whatever is through/into grass, pebbles, sand or whatever.
[close]

Yeah I can't help but think of the total disregard for their bearings. Just destroying them for no good reason.

Riding on dirt is fun, that’s a good reason.

I disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it

I’m with you SatanicPanic, riding through stuff that’s not meant to be skated is fun. I don’t mind a cool trick through dirt, leaves, debris, water etc. I get that it can be damaging to your set up and doing it excessively can be wasteful, but these aren’t Ferraris or houses we’re talking about. The bearings aren’t gonna be ruined going through a little dirt or water. My Bones Swiss usually last years skating through dirt, debris, weather etc. Skating pristine spots can look boring sometimes. For instance the spots in China look amazing but the footy is underwhelming sometimes. It’s like a skatepark clip almost. I’d rather see some East Coast crust or SF footy.
The challenge of riding through it is the trick.

Apropos of the Stevie Williams thread:

Prime era, early/mid 90’s Love Park scene was insufferable.

Apropos of the Stevie Cab thread:

No adult woman should have to try and match wits with Cab.

I would not say Love was in its prime in the early/mid-90s

Vans is a brand for people who have just given up on themselves and want something that is always acceptable and doesn't require any thought. A Vans store is a 1 stop shop for an entire wardrobe for people to want to feel young and lack any actual preferences or identity.

Nailed it. I stopped wearing their shoes, they hurt my feet skating, and chilling. That in turn makes me feel zero fucks for Vans

While I agree, I think vans courted that demographic because suburban moms have more disposable income and preferences shift less.

I exclusively skate Vans and I'm fine with this assessment. The few models I like are always available, they always fit, and they always skate how I want them to. One less thing to worry about.

I think it's more lifestyle people who have the full Vans getup. It's often the "I used to skate in high school" types that want to tell you about how they had to LOVE Element, Rodney Vs Daewon, and ask you if you've seen the newest Nyjah part. It used to make sense when Vans were cheaper, but somehow lasted a long time.

Vans are sick, and timeless, and visually less offensive compared to most the other corporate brands... kind of hilarious though how few Vans pros/ams wear any Vans clothing apart from maybe the free socks. Like not even the pros with their own clothing lines actually rock the clothing.
