theoretical combinations
« on: May 19, 2024, 07:15:55 AM »
What are some good rider/brand combos based on vibes, brand image, or previous team rider styles that won’t happen due to real-life reasons like bad management, bad attitudes, solid current sponsors, or money?

Here are some that could make sense:

Louie Lopez- Chocolate
Mason Silva- Girl
Marc Suciu- Alien Workshop
Collin Provost- Baker
Antonio Durao- Palace
Geoff Rowley- Toy Machine

Andrew Wilson - Limosine.

That one still doesn’t make sense though Krooked is the best shit out.

- Boulala on Baker back then. I wonder what made him stick with Flip when it was clear how much he fit in and was in with the Baker lot.

- Ragdoll should have gone to Deathwish along with Baca[Baker, I know],Lizard King and Slash once Pig Wood dissolved. What ever happened to Adrian Mallory anyway? He was like a more tight-jeans hesh and less surfer-stoner Adam Alfaro but I liked them both.

- Braydon gets shifted to Heroin after being dropped by everyone, gets the boot then skates for Fancy Lad for 3 months.

- Chad Muska on DGK/Blind instead of Element after Shorty's stopped.

- Levi Brown, probably would have been more reverred (talk about fucking underrated) if he skated for Roger, Toy Machine or Bueno or even fucking Bummer High instead of Element.

- Marissa Dal Santo on Foundation instead of Zero; More than one stellar video part and not semi-early-retirement from the big leagues.

- Imagine if Penny have of gotten the Gino/Guy or Koston spot on Nike.

- Pat Rakestraw on literally anyone after Black Label. Pay that man to skate.   slave? also Chris Troy.

- PJ Ladd. I don't even know what to suggest other than no company seemed to be able to wrangle him well.

Wildcard suggestions:
Nyjah stays on Element then gets his own sub-brand a la Jordan instead of Old Father Fuckery I&I and withheld footage, Matt Mumford would have gotten curtains in Black Label videos, Jereme Rogers does not leave Girl forPlan B and get too big for his already huge britches - becomes the most productive member of Crail's coasting pros and Chewy Cannon actually getting his shine in any way.

Hermann Stene and Westgate on Baker

Idk about Baker, but I hope for a day Westgate can get a legit board sponsor. Both companies crumbled he’s stuck with and it’s been a bummer to watch. He might look good on Chocolate with Trahan

I love all of these. Frankie would be sick on Krooked and Ishod on Girl makes a lot of sense for some reason. Girl super team renaissance. Shane too.

I was looking at Tommy’s Fallen shoe today. I like it. Could definitely be an IPath model.

& Koston and Guy back on Girl would make me so happy. Girl exodus is still the lamest shit. I feel like their team current team and all its new pros would make so much more sense with the OGs back on too. Maybe a few of them would still be AMs. I can see the class photo ads now.

- Boulala on Baker back then. I wonder what made him stick with Flip when it was clear how much he fit in and was in with the Baker lot.
iirc there was always an open offer to ride for baker but he was loyal to flip; I might just be talking out my ass though

Yeah I feel like I read that in an interview with either Reynolds or one of the other Baker guys that used that sort of wording.

So I guess the question changes to - why was he so loyal to flip when Baker would arguably have highlighted and paid him more.

Maybe some euro pride? Also leaving Penny sounds bonkers and they were pretty tight back in the day.

I heard that was an actual possibility some time back, not sure if it was some loyalty to Flip or talks soured, but honestly would have probably been a better move long term.

Joey O’Brien skates like someone we’d be begging for Real to turn pro

He was getting Real flow back in the day around Sabo 4 and does seem like a great fit on paper.

Jaws was on iPath too in its later iteration.

I feel like Boulala finessed it pretty nicely throughout his whole career. He had full parts in pretty much every single bakrer video. Hes probably has more baker footy than flip footy.
