Any tips getting boards at the exact same height when hanging them up? I usually use fishing wire and just try and tie them at the same point but it's pretty hit and miss. I need to hang up 20 boards all at the same level and hoping there's some hacks out there for doing it easily.
[close]

I tied the loop around a can of coce to get them alinged.

How would that work though with differing nose length and truck hole placement?

I've done it before on a job where I had to place 7 at the same height and I had to use the mounting blocks that attach to the wall and bolts through the truck holes. I was doing it by the seat of my pants and all the boards were different sizes and makes so I did it all by measurements and eye, most mistakes were covered by the boards.

If I were to do 20, I would shoot a laser line and butt the noses of the boards to the lazer lines and mark the truck holes with a skinny pencil or pen. If you don't have a $20 laser that shoots a line on the wall I would use a straightedge and a level. Put two layers of painters tape on the wall and hot glue the straight edge on the wall use a level to assure it's level. The tape is to prevent the hot glue from taking paint off the wall.

Mount the boards one at a time and use a wooden block or anything the right size as a spacer block to keep the space between the boards the same width. It might take some math to figure if you will need a 1 inch, 3 inch, or 24 inch block as your spacer, it depends on the wall space you have and the aesthetic you want.

I have about 100 boards on my walls and ceilings and I always use a 2" to 4" screw to mount them with and nobody ever notices. I find it easier to mount and you never have to reset them.

I was at the hardware store today and thought of a super easy way to adjust deck height.

Use thin metal wire. You don't have to tie it, just twist it.
If the board is too low, add an extra twist to the wire.
Too high, unwind it a little.

I think this is how I'll do it from now on.

Granted, I only hung two boards that are the same lenght pretty much. Fishing line trough the lower bolt holes, nails flush on the wall.
Wire works, but the wire showing would bother me more than slight misalingment.

How would that work though with differing nose length and truck hole placement?

Not really a boards on the wall guy, or indeed an autograph guy but the AntiHero team rolled through my hometown and seeing as I had this Grimple deck I thought I would bring it along, sharpie at the ready. Well it turns out the AH team are a super friendly bunch of guys and once I had Frank’s sig it was easy to ask for the rest. Oh and the skate demo is certainly not dead - AH put on a show at Livi that will live long in our memories.

Ill shit, dude

How did it go down?

A friend send me a DM about another old board and asked how much he should ask for it. Then the next day he sends me a another photo with the Blender like ”how about this one” and I was like uhh whose boards are these and I’ll buy that one.

Turned out his aunts husband was a skater in the eighties and the boards had been in his storage for 30 something years, and the guy had asked if my friend could sell them for him. I paid a really fair sum and my friend delivered it to my door step basically.

Phillips is the first version.  Second version his name had dimension lines.  So that is dope.

John Sonner, he's a widdler, no big deal.

while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo

Waiting for my order to arrive. Putting this on my wall for sure:

Love that one, friend brought me this design on a longsleeve from Skull Skates when he went on a trip overseas to Canada.

I have a pretty good collection in my classroom. I teach at an arts-focused charter high school. This one might hit a little too close to home  ;D

Anticipating moving within the next 5-6 months so I'm not really trying to hang stuff up right now, but I got this as a parting gift from the owner of the shop I was working at the last couple years (as I now no longer work there), and it was kind of taking up space so I figured why not have it up.
