Most shoes wouldn't have leather/suede going all the way to the sole when there's a toe cap. Companies want to save as much money as possible, and doing that just costs extra.

I feel like the duracap in vans (and the rubberized versions other brands are doing underneath the suede) is a fairly new trend.

That shit's been around 20+ years. I had a pair of MC Raps that had it under leather.
This!
Also even if i aknowledge the fact of brands and models not having the suede going all the way to the sole, i think it goes against the principle of the toe cap that should be an additional layer that protects the shoe. Also, making a unique layer as the toe cap makes it weaker than a one piece toe cap. Consuming and buying products is approving the company and the design decisions behind it. I'm not purchasing an ill designed product if I'm aware of its flaws.

just use some liquid super glue on the stitches and you won't have a problem, how do people not know this?

Went to a store looking for a hat and walked out with a black and white pair of Puigs at 30% off. Not sure if I should feel bad when they feel great.

It looks like they cut that part out. My point was that even if you glue the stitches, you'll still have a thin single layer of suede to blow through... Dick.

Agree with that, and I always assumed that was the case until I started working in footwear. It's way more common that panels will stop at a connection point.

i just got hooked up with these by a buddy who works for nike.

feel really different than other shoes i've worn. but really supportive. the sock thing only is a bit annoying taking the shoes on and off but otherwise i don't notice it too much while i'm wearing em. looking forward to skating in them, but not for a while because my current shoes have a good amount of life left in em.

Kyle Walkers Pro Vans shoe in Pink/White. Pretty stoked. They fit true to size and I'm curious how they'll break in. I also ordered a pair of Lakai Owens but they haven't arrived just yet.

The boozy sambas have leather under the suede and I'm pretty sure there is Adituff or some shit under that. I think it says it on the tactics benson or other guy vid. I've been skating them and I've only ripped the stitching so far. I'll probably just end up using my maroon Samba ADVs for chilling because those DONT have those extra layers. They feel great though.
How's the fit on the booz sambas?  I remember the booz vulcs running a tad small.
They look great!

State Hudsons. Worst shoes. Been wearing them for 2 days, there's no support, the cushioning in non-existent, and they squeek when I walk.  Going to turn them in to summer time, sockless, taking out the trash shoes.  I got them for $15 so I shouldn't complain, however at full price you're essentially getting generic wal-mart vulc shoes.

thats the first complaint against State I've ever seen. and speaking of squeaky shoes, i can't stand the material on Vans pros insoles coz my vans always squeak against my socks. anyone else have vans that squeak?

Fit is fine for me, I get 10.5 in regular boozys and got the same in these. I don't mind a little more length because when I try on 10 or 9.5 in almost any shoe, the forefoot is too tight for me. I get 10s in cons ctas pro but can also fit 9.5 in suede.

anyone got a rec for a slim cup that's not too narrow and keeps the top of the foot locked in? the regular stan smith did it for me but the higher heel and lack of ankle support had me rolling my ankles. the nike sb gato was working out for me for a while but then started hurting the top of my foot (also no longer exist). i've been eyeing the new crockets/kyle walkers, that converse shoe the metric, lakai's cupsole owen, etc

I dig the lucas and samba adv: go TTS (true to size) if you are concerned about them being narrow

I heard the lakai fremont is wide. i had the griffin xlk and they weren't narrow by any means. i was on the nike sb project ba for a while and it gets wider over time but i wouldn't consider any of these "slim"

But $15 that's less than half. Was it at a physical store or online?
