All shot with my Nikon FE on ilford HP5, just picked up a yellow filter so hopefully the sky will look a bit better in my outdoor shots next time.

A few from a recent trip back to San Diego. Heavy grain due to using a scanning app on my phone. ?\_(ツ)_/?

Anybody have a recommendation for a decent film scanner?
When I was looking into this like six months ago the reasonable options I narrowed it down to were the Epson v600, Plustek Opticfilm 7200/8200, and then v700/v750 or whatever they're up to now.

I cheaped out and got a v600 and I don't think it pulls out enough resolution to print at anything close to a decent size, but it's okay for posting online. I thought I'd be shooting more medium format so I wanted the option to scan those negs too, but I'd probably rather have spent a little more for a good, 35mm dedicated scanner like the plustek.

They're so goddamn overpriced for the decades old technology that they are though. If I had more of a DIY spirit I'd probably have just started DSLR scanning

EDIT: I might as well add some examples to not be an ass, here are some recent ones that are scanned with the v600

Because i shot this at f2.0- 200, i wanted to shoot it with flashes and a really shallow depth of field, the focusing was the main problem, an inch one way or another would take the shot super out of focus, i had to switch the camera to video mode to get the focus proper. It's a lot of work i just added for something not super noticeable but i think it created a unique image.

I don't want to argue, because I actually like the picture and the trick. But with your explanation does not really make sense to me. We can agree that a digital camera makes things a lil easier. Operating flashes with a flash meter and not being able to see the result right away might seem a bit more complicated. An x-sync of 1/200 can be achieved with many slrs, even 1/500 is possible with medium format cameras, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Keeping focus was the hardest part, maybe if i would got it set on a tripod instead of doing hand held, the main issue was at f2 and shooting that far off leaning in our out a tiny bit throws the focus off. A lot of times i would think i got it then i would check and he'd be blurry, to see how finite the focus is you can see his forward hand is out of focus. So if i moved half an inch or he changed his angle a tiny bit the focus would be soft, so i'm more saying i coulda easily blown through a roll of film and got a bunch of blurry shots not so much that it wasn't possible to get the shot.

I made a zine for a zine fest http://www.thrashaddiction.com/ organized during the weekend. I gathered photos i shot from 3 different skate plazas, 2 in Israel and Macba. first time im making a zine myself and it was so much easier than i thought. I had like a week to print it and it was a simple idea but im super stoked on how it turned out.

Got some copies left if anyone is interested

Jordan Trahan lives in New Orleans now, i see him pretty often and get to skate with him occasionally, he's pretty all over the place so it's hard to pin him down to do a photo, i got kinda lucky with this one.

If you can afford it -go for it. 16 mm is really wide, I personally never liked to shoot with anything below 20mm, the distortion is just too much. Also, see if you can find a F3hp over just a F3,the viewfinder difference makes it worth it...

For what it's worth I worked for several newspapers ( way back when) and my backup was always an FM with my primary a F3hp. Loved that camera. Kept it long after the computer chip cameras came out...

I've heard those aren't favorable due to a slow flash shutter atnch. Get and f4 or f5 or even an FM2n
