I skate at a park called Modern. Its pretty tight. My little homies are hella good. They try to show me all the "new" shit... and i try to school them on the "tight" shit. Its pretty fun. Big sessions on Monday and Weds nights. I travel a lot too. On my way to L.A. tomorrow for week.

Welcome to the boards.

It's been mentioned, but I think the real point of contention here is the announcement of Berrics mailorder. As you said, mailorder has existed for years now; however you also mentioned the Berrics gets six million hits a month. Never has there been a mailorder company in skateboarding that can boast of figures like that. The Berrics has such a strong following amongst kids that I believe many of them would be more loyal to the website than to their local shop, even if they are listed. I feel that (legit) skateshops are the heart and soul of our 'culture' and as such it is every skater's responsibility to do what they can to support their local one. These days, with so many shops struggling to keep their doors open, can you honestly say you are comfortable with people choosing to order their product through the Berrics, rather than heading down to their local (which most likely needs every bit of business it can get)?

What are some good videos with Chicago footage?

There is really almost nothing with a lot of it on a national level. The only pro I can think of who has ever filmed a part that had mostly Chicago footage for a national video is Patrick Melcher in blackout. Usually it'll just be a clip at the bicentennial gap (looks like a subway entrnace gap, even though its actually a parking garage) or that one spot with the bump over this white pillar thing (Kalis nollie in DC video, and a friend (John Methvin I believe) backside flips it in his part)
The thing is, there are a lot of really good spots downtown in the loop like Josh was mentioning, but trying to get something on film at a lot of the spots can be really difficult, because a lot of spots are just those spots you go to knowing you are going to get kicked out pretty quickly, but try to get in what you can anyway, knowing if you get kicked out of the spot, you can just go down the block to some other plaza, where they will kick you out pretty quickly as well.

I'm living off about $2k a month with my students loans in Venice, which is not the IE, and living quite comfortably. Just because the Muska is living large doesn't mean everybody else has to.
Also as for Berra's "progression:" watch his part in tentacles of destruction, watch his part in skate more, note the fact that he is doing the same exact tricks in each part, just on different stuff.

There really is a ton of good shit in Chicago to skate, but don't bother between November and April - shit is busted, wet, cold and brutal unless you're tough or dumb (or both). I love it anyway.

Saint Louis has a ton of spots that no one has ever skated, or that have never gotten any coverage - more than Chicago, even. Seems like every other building in Saint Louis has some sick bank to ledge.

What are some good videos with Chicago footage?

Here's a 3 minute video with Chicago footage. The most I have ever seen as far as semi-proish kind of footage. I'm on the prowl for good Chicago street footage, but always no luck.



I'm sure there are local videos of the Uprise Skateshop guys as well as far as full length videos, but I haven't seen them yet.

Cold Broke (also old, with the curtains going to the infamous Jerret Berry)
SUprise volumes 1 and 2

Patrick Melcher has a part in blackout with a lot of Chicago footage in it.
Kalis has managed to sneak some chicago footy in from time to time.
Also one of the old thrasher videos has a Chicago section in it.


St. Louis, although filled with fun stuff to skate, isn't nearly as good as Chicago.
