Back on topic, I had a stroll through the mall and stopped by the local West 49. Seems as though The Berrics is part of a huge Holiday Christmas line-up.
Do any non-mall shops even carry The Berrics stuff, or is it all just the Happy Meal stores?
http://www.strategyonline.ca/articles/magazine/20040823/baio.htmlAccording to the West 49 CEO, Sam Baio says
"the shops for skaters back in the day were "back-alley shops" and "not parent-friendly." (i.e. I want to feed them MacDonald's)
"The whole thing is about being real," he adds.
"So many people try to be in our retail business when maybe they'd be better off in a different age group or selling car washes." (We'd rather be eating sushi)
Now, I understand that the mall may be the last surviving place in Canada to buy a deck, so I thought I'd take a little slack off the companies selling there. I mean, the decks are on the wall, separate from the girl's section. The trucks and wheels are separate from the fat shoe lace rack.
But then I realized that when you make "exclusive products" for just only the mall, they put your product beside stuff like this.... Trust me I saw this.
