Anyone have any tips for frontside tailslides?
pretty lengthy, here's what i came up with.
i'd say put your back foot on the edge of the tail a little behind you, and your front foot close to your back bolts with your toes hanging off the edge slightly. when you pop, go 90 and try not to get very higher than the ledge but keep your weight distributed to your back foot. the balance is the hard part, because if you lean too much backwards, you'll slip out, and if you lean too much forward, you'll get thrown or just stick and come back to regular without sliding, same as if you pop it too high. you've got to figure out your balance for yourself, and a key factor is how well the ledge slides too, because you can get away with leaning a little too far back if the ledge isn't waxed all that much, and if it's waxed to hell, then you can lean a little too forward with no issues. i typically come parallel to the ledge if i'm going to fakie, and at a slight angle if i'm going to regular, but on ledges sloped down/hubbas, i always come at an angle, and i typically come out to fakie because it's easier. coming out to regular is as simple as just dropping out of it and leaning forward. coming out to fakie takes a little more effort to make sure that you don't roll back into the ledge. you should lean a little back and shift your back foot foward and your front foot backwards (more emphasis on the back foot though). if you lean too much forward coming out to fakie, you'll probably roll back into the ledge. that's all i can think of on front tails, don't know if it'll help you any.
