The tight homie wants to go there in Feb. I'm leaning more towards a southern USA trip due to Spain having winter. Who's right? Can I leave my phone/bag on the ledge everywhere or are the gypsy gangs that prolific? I've heard differing accounts. Do all Barcelona skaters want Americans to go home or just certain spots?

No one wants anybody to go home. Where did you hear that ?

I skate Macba every weekend and just leave my bag down. Never had any trouble at any of the spots. Just keep an eye on it.

skaters in bcn are not your problem, the gipsy gangs may try something if you leave your bag unattended for some time

try to only go skating with water, keys and phone

at night dont walk alone around macba o el raval

weather wise normally you may have some rainy days but nothing crazy

I was worried about what to do with a small bag when I visited Barcelona to skate. I ended up keeping my phone and card/cash in my pocket and then just set my bag (containing water, extra shirt, tool, wax, etc.) down and tried to keep an eye on it. I figured that if it got snatched it wouldn't have anything I couldn't afford to lose.

And it was 100% fine. MACBA (I was there earlier in the day when it wasn't super crowded) has dozen of skaters setting their bags against the museum building so it wasn't a thing at all. At some of the more cutty spots where I was skating alone I just keep an eye on sketchy-looking folks.

Honestly, other than the caveat that every city can have rough areas, Europe is very safe when compared to most American cities. There are just so many easy target clueless or drunk tourists swarming the Gaudi spots and shopping areas that all you have to do is appear to be less of a target than them and you'll be fine.

When you said "small bag" I thought, "Oh cool, someone like me can skate Barce" but then I read on and you were talking about a literal bag and not your abilities

josh kalis said it on the 9 club. the bus station plaza not macba, there was large graffito reading 'go home' and he said itwas directed towards american rippers. they let him skate because "josh, you are plaza skater. we are plaza skater. to smoke, to chill"

I never heard much from Tarragona, there's a cool spot china banks style in the port but nothing much. Julio from petshop is born and raised around Tarragona, if you go to the shop maybe you can ask him...

Bonus: There's a dope skatepark in Salou https://spokoramps.com/project/skatepark-en-salou/

Santa Coloma Skatepark, it's "my local skatepark." The bowl is amazing, but the rest is average. You can also reach the Skatepark of Baró de Viver in less than five minutes.

These new ledges are sick. Reminds me of Wolfetone Square ledges i used to skate in Dublin 20 years ago.

Only thing is they are quite sticky. I would love to rub brick or at least laquer them but i don't think it's feasible with all the foot traffic

Basically the same post I just tossed in the Madrid thread

I'm headed out to Barcelona the second week of October with my wife, a skate homie and his wife. Mostly vacation mode (relaxing, food, booze) but were gonna bring boards. Were staying around Marina subway station area by the zoo. I saw a a small park over that way near the zoo. Any decent street spots we should check out outside of just wandering? I think were a skatebable distance to MACBA and a few other spots

Just wandering is fine unless you're wanting to skate something specific. You're close to Born Plaza. Macba is under construction now - can only skate the ledge/upper part and 3 block around the corner. A lot of people hate it but I also like the Forum Park. Picnic DIY is fun too. Right now it's hot as balls so I haven't even skated this past week, just been going to the beach. October is def a better time for skating here imho.
