I think the Bearcat is sick to be honest.

Same. The Rowan is like a performance version with some half cab thrown in. The bearcat obviously looks cheap with the plain jane logo on the tongue (and back tab instead of the red "off the wall" one) , sub par materials, and only 5 eyelets but there are good elements to the design IMHO. Inspiration can still be drawn from it. People put so much value into associations. "That looks like ____ which I associate with _____." Ruled by the psychology of branding.

very similar to the Buz vulc 1 and Buz Vulc Rx, i.e. snug in the toebox (height and width).  the heel lock is a little better and the shoe feels a lil more comfortable/beefy. I was gonna do a Coffee Break review on them comparing them to the Buz Vulc 1s, but I dont have any of those left.

Maybe compare to the 3mc and 3st.004? Similar soles and the toe boxes look like the same shape to me, lowish profile.
I can't even skate vulcs anymore and this shoe is appealing to me. If I could I'd be all over it. I'm wearing 3st.004 as chillers and I'm impressed by the hex sole. Not rolling around I can feel my hardware! And I've got my shit more or less flush.

Wasn't it the case that Kalis basically wanted a Lynx for his first shoe? Like, when he designed it, but got told to change shit? It's probably been mentioned a lotta times before and in one of his interviews or something...

Still, it actually looks legit. Not that the final product is too far off from a Lynx anyways.

The toe panel would look better underneath the side panel thing. Maybe throw some waffle control soles?

I kind of agree with this. All those Airwalks that the Menace guys wore (Suriel particularly - the 19Oz, the bowling shoe etc) in 20 Shot and Trilogy were the ugliest shoes I’ve ever seen in real life, but looked so dope in those videos a little worn in and with the right outfits.
