Is there any info on that JJ Fastbreak colorway? The ad is in this month's Thrasher but can't remember seeing anything about them in here.

I'd say go a half-size down just to be safe. I usually wear 9.5, bought a 9.5 pair of fastbreaks online and wished I'd gone down to a 9. Also have a pair of the Hopps pro leathers in 9 and they fit perfect. A skateshop employee verified this, told me that Converse run a bit big.

Does the nylon on the side not just blow out immediately? Seems like there's zero protection where a lot of shoes (even suede ones) get holes.

Here is the update I promised, These are about 7-8 sessions in maybe 2-3 hours each session.
I super glued the hot spots so they would hold a bit longer.
I really liked the AL D ones I had, these for whatever reason don't feel as good for flip tricks. I've got a couple new pairs of cons coming Tuesday so ill probably give these one more sesh before retiring them.

Yes! Converse and CONS Fastbreak are practically 100% TTS. They’re a little narrow in the mid foot, but if you don’t have super wide feet, they should fit TTS with no problems. I’ve had non skate and the Cons versions of the Fastbreak. Both were 11, which is my usual size.
Converse cupsoles ususlly run TTS, while the vulcs run 0.5-1.0 size small. Good thing to keep in mind.

I think those soles look better than most. There’s actually something to them. NB# put some effort into it, in comparison to what SB and other brands are putting out.

The Tiagos look amazing. Really makes all the core brands look like sh*t. I'm sorry Emerica, but I'm sick of buying shoes that I don't really like just to support the brand. I will buy multiple pairs of those NBs once they drop.

How so? You know that's completely subjective, right? Personally, I think that Tiago is even uglier than the rest of the NB# line, and I already thought they made some of the ugliest shoes. It just looks like some running shoe to me. No thanks. Still love Tiago though.

Yes, it is completely subjective. To me they have the classic late 90s skate shoe look. Tasetfully panelled, slightly athletic but not over the top. Im sick of Emerica ONLY offering casual shoes. Emerica is my favorite brand of all time and they arent allowing me to resonate with their image at all. I want to support them, and I do, but its always with a bit of resentment. Casual shoes are for the masses. I want shoes from core brands that LOOK like skate shoes, but not in an over the top shitty eS kind of way.

I guess I've always considered all 3 Sole Tech brands to basically be one brand, so if Emerica didn't have a model I wanted, I'd skate and es' or Etnies model. I just got the Etnies Veer, which is very much a classic skate shoe design, but with great technology. The Michelin sole is grippier than anything I've ever worn. I generally stick to more casual designs because I think they look better than a bunch of flashy panels, but some other more substantial sole tech shoes I've loved were the Sal 97's, Accel Slim Plus, Swift, and the amazing Herman G6, which I wish they still made.

The Swift 1.5 is still available and comes in some nice colors - also a very classic skate shoe silhouette. To be honest the Avant and Silo look to be in the same realm of the Tiago, if you're looking for some tech, 90's look.

The problem with the avant and silo, (aside from the weak ass designs) is the shape. They're trying to appeal to the late 90s. I dont need that. I want new designs, 100% original paneling, but with a modern, sleek (not too sleek!) form and finish. And I want them to be unapoligetically SKATE. They should look like a shoe that is STRICTLY for skateboarding. I have casual shoes for chilling, and when I skate I wear my skate shoes.

My old boss used to wear the romero laced. The dude was not cool, and had never once in his life stepped on a skateboard. He wore them because they were simple, casual shoes.

Weak as f*ck imo.

The Tiago is not perfect, and I hate that its a new balance shoe. But so far, its the closest thing to what Im looking for. A mix between casual and athletic with an inherently gangster vibe. Im not a gangster in any way, but skateboarding is. Doing a kickflip down 15 stairs is gangster as sh*t to me, and I want the shoes to ooze that persona.

Tiago ain't skating 15 sets, lol. But I get what you're saying. You want slimmed down, but tech looking skate shoes.
I guess we come from exact opposite ends of the spectrum - I'm all about simple, classic designs. I could care less about new designs. I'd rather skate something that has minimal panels, in all black, white or brown. To each his own.

I mean you have have a supportive some with tech in them without it looking super chunky or like it’s three or four massive sections glued together. The AVE Pros and the Westgate G6s (the runners) have that. Even Westgate’s NB pro model is better, or the New Balance 868 that Tyler Surrey always wears.

There was a Lakai catalog a few seasons back now (I think) that had the flaco’s in black canvas and one in blue canvas.  Been waiting for those ever since, but I think they got abandoned.  Not into red canvas clown shoes.

Man. I was really hoping that the Carroll was gonna be sick.
Had it just been straight up true to the og I think it’d been better. This one looks too compromised. I still want to believe so I’ll check it out if that’s an option.
I’ll say it again, my Porto’s weren’t bad. Wish I had gotten the first cw.
