Right now 18east is killing the game. They are in their own category. I wouldn’t consider it Street wear but it’s def skate. Everyone involved is an amazing skater. No cap.

damn unfortunately i didn't have this experience
i really wanted to like them, the cuts/fabrics looked good, and it being a skater-run company without being explicitly 'skate clothes' - i got a couple items and they were cut like they didn't know that clothes can be wide/baggy while still fitting correctly at the shoulders/waist
the fact that their website would often say 'we recommend getting one size up for a baggy fit' kind of points to that - kind of like younger skaters just getting pants that are way too big for them
for 18 east's prices, you could just get some japanese designer/streetwear clothes that are actually well made

I may be biased based on location but Sex Hippies is also another brand I'd call A tier skate/street wear. Lots of handmade items, almost everything has some unique aspect to it

It’s honestly surprising he hasn’t been kicked off yet. He was clearly only picked up for the Olympics and does fit Vans at all. Dudes pregame warm up fits with old skools is heinous.

It’s honestly surprising he hasn’t been kicked off yet. He was clearly only picked up for the Olympics and does fit Vans at all. Dudes pregame warm up fits with old skools is heinous.

I think like tony hawk he was also meant to be part of vans massive bowl/park series that never happened because of covid

I think the image on the back of the Zahba is a Wendy's Triple Baconator. "Zahba" as a name for Islamic women means strong, pure, rich, popular. So, the shoe conveys a story of a young Islamic woman who had the courage to eat the most Haram thing possible as a means of protest. However, because she was not used to eating such foods, she had an explosive bowl movement, hence the brown colorway with backsplash on the outsole. She also was into cupsoles like the Fairline, so it looks similar to that.

I am Brisbane based, but when I went to Perth, it seemed like everyone who worked in the stores I went to and young people out and about were almost head to toe in skate brand product, maybe the exception being more often people were in high end runners than recognised skate shoes, but it was just funny hearing a lot of them not even having a clue about the brand they were wearing, but they were definitely going to buy more of it.

Butter originated from the core skate guys (Garth and co) from Perth WA, so it made sense, but was just so weird to me that their main following was people who had never set foot on a skateboard.

By comparison, I am old enough to be their parents' age and boring in the style selection, eg plain and simple works best for me, but I know we were heavily into whatever we could get our hands on in the 90s, or made do with "lookalike" jeans and similar styles without the high end price tags.

facts but their designs are still infinitely better than palace and supreme in my opinion. i think they're more or less on the same level as stussy, with better prices and cooler shit than the bigger and overhyped streetwear brands. that's perfectly fine in my book because i like being able to afford and actually buy things i like. also who gives a fuck as long as they keep sponsoring alexis lacroix and doing the glory challenge
