Cody Chapman shoe dropped recently. What's the deal with this sole? I assume it's one of those cupsole/vulc hybrid things but it would be nice if someone finally made an actual cupsole hightop.

I'm pretty sure the Lizzie is actually a vulc. The Crockett High is techically a cup but Van's Wafflecup tech is barely a step above a vulc. I would go as far as to say the same for the NB 440 since the midsole only goes part way up the sole. I've also been searching for a proper hightop cupsole lol

Those new Vans are... interesting? I guess I'm glad they're trying to branch out but I couldn't even see AVE wearing that.

I like both these alot. I'd like to see some better cw as I have enough white shoes in my closet to choke a horse. Sadly they'll most likely both be pushing over $120 or above when released. But this is the type of shoes I've been asking for Vans to release, actual cupsules with a midsole, so hears to it!

Those are lakais cupsole they call xlk.
Unless I'm reading it wrong?

Yeah, XLK is a full cupsole. VLK is their more supportive vulc. Or it was for a while - not sure if it has become their main vulc construction now.

It’s so weird that they won’t just call the shoe that Cody (and Simon) designed a ”pro model” like they’re doing with Griffin.


I’m interested in those AVE2. I love the AVE Pros so I’m interested in seeing them in other colorways - especially white with a black jazz stripe. Love that colorway.

Anytime Vans goes super tech, it’s jarring to me. I’d personally be ok with them reinventing classics like they usually do, or just having a standard version of their og line up that’s more made for skating. They stay in business with their OG’s, and waste money with their techy stuff but what do I know

He wore the last one and he’s had some teases wearing this one on IG.  I don’t think he’d wear THAT colorway, but def the shoe.

A lot of people used to love Vans, myself included, but the change to Skate from Pro screwed up the fit bad enough for me to stop caring about the brand. Also the feeling totally changed and there are some people on the team that I have no interest in supporting.

Not to mention that their insoles have consistently gotten worse and lots of the Skate line has had foxing delam issues on the vulcs and some Waffle Cups.

The brand isn't doing themselves any favors by going from Propellor and killing the momentum by releasing a bunch of shoes and colors that don't sell. Their prices have risen and even taking account inflation the product just isn't as durable or well designed as other skate brands.

These kinda remind me of the Matt Miller DC shoe. Or something from New Balance.

Needless to say in the right colorway they’ll be great and I may cop as long as the shoe isn’t flat like the last one. Great shoe but my arches were killing me.
