In 2008 I found this foil silver jacket thing at the thrift store. I was wearing these red suede eras and I spray painted them silver. I can’t really remember what my thought process was but I remember saying space man when explaining it to someone when skating in the jacket and the shoes.

Who is they?   euro Zumiez accidentally leaked two colorways a over a month ago and we saw photos on them on Manderson on IG before that

I actually don't mind the silver colorway too much. It's on trend for the whole y2k silver running shoe thing and the quality of the silver leather/synthetic looks decent. It was probably an easy sell to the the buyers due to said trend, and historically, it's not completely out of left field considering the history of of soccer style silhouettes having metallic colored uppers. Plus, I'm sure there will be a plethora of 'normal' colorways so it's a non issue.

In regards to the actual design itself, I'm not crazy about the asymmetrical toe cap. In combination with the deco stitching it makes the toe shape look a bit awkward and potato shaped. I personally feel this shoe could have been way sicker with a different to cap/vamp design. The rest of the shoe looks decent (aside from the outsole design, which could have been better aswell imo)

The whole part is chock full of fucking references to that movie. I was obsessed.

tbh as much as i dislike that silver louie colourway, i like that he’s taking that risk. in terms of cons nah. cons tends to only drop either extremely safe colourways or extremely outthere ones. there aint no in between with em fools

I personally like the new Curren shoe. That grey colorway is horrible though.

Wait for the Black with white soles coming out later this year. White stitching. Makes the shoes look really good.

Just my opinion though.

I don’t think curren designed this shoe, i think Vans designers presented the shoe to him and he got to suggest some tweaks over time. I’m a big curren fan and am happy he’s getting a shoe, I just expected it to be different. Curren if you’re reading this I’m sorry for my harsh words. Maybe other colorways will change my opinion

I remember when es first went out of business and they were running an eBay sale for something like $25 for a pair of shoes. I bought 4 pairs of the first bloods and skated just the worst color ways of this shoe for like a year. Halcyon days, indeed.

Really like watching Curren skate - and he earned a signature shoe. But I agree this first colorways  is a disappointment. The whole style doesn’t fit Curren and didnt touch me. It’s really about time for vans to come with a new shoe people want to skate. still buying Halfcabs.
But the design department is pure disappointment.
