And also remember to re-seal them after your done with the art so it lasts longer and has a consistent surface.
What do you use re-seal them? would just regular clear coat be fine?
and also i want stain the wood a nice color like most board companies do, what would i use for that?
Yeah, just a regular clear coat works fine. Go with just a few light passes over it, and then when it's dry, wipe over it with a rag so you pick up the surface layer of dust that tends to settle on top after sealing.
And I'm not sure the EXACT type of stain certain companies use, but if you go to your local hardware store you'll find next to the pre-mixed wood-colored stains, a "clear" type that the attendants there can mix with a certain amount of paint additive for you to give you most colors instead of just shades of brown. And I recommend requesting that they "go easy" on the amount of pigment or paint or whatever they put in there, because if the color is too subtle, you can always give it another coat, but if its too bold and opaque, you could lose the some of the grain detail.
