I saw bits and pieces of a handful like "Guilty" and "Transmission 7," but the first one I watched all the way through that I can recall, was also my first pirchase, "Menikmati." Shit set the bar so high right off the bat.

My first skate vid was this local shop vid by Calsurf called Midwest Mauraders, it just got me hyped to skate, I think I saw it like 20 times in 2 days. My friend who skates was like "watch this, it's a skate video" I was immediately like, fuck playing football, im gonna skate. I didn't pay attention to shit, it was the middle of fucking winter, I got my board (used Dyrdek pro model limited edition with shop wheels and Venture trucks) and went out to skate with my friend, just trying to learn good ollies. it was fun as fuck and seeing Davis (torgerson, yeah, he's sponsored by them) pole jam down this 8 stair, it made me so hyped, I'm gonna link all of the parts here

^^That part is the friend montage and Jeff Bauman's part

I saw your mom do a ollie to cooch drop straight down the big black pole, it was gnarly. she defiantly shut that shit down

First video was Puzzle 13 - It has affected me big time I think. Especially the Flo part, I have been a fan ever since. Got so stoked on skateboarding in france and all the Paris spots and shit, which I think this is why I keep going there to skate even here 10 years later. I also love skating hubbas, because thats what Flo did all the time, and back then I thought thats what you skate if you were really good.

It also featured some of the local dudes around here (Denmark), so I was blown away by seeing the local shop-owner in the video.

future primative

the video that changed it all was actually just a part because at the time street skating was only a small part of videos like freestyle. natas birthed modern street skating with this part and started a trend that would change that situation quite a bit.

My first and favorite video was Alien Workshop's "Photosynthsis" that I got for free with my first subscription to Thrasher. God I must have watched it a million times.

The first video I saw was Thrasher "Sponsor Me!" (1994). It is a horrible video in hindsight but made me pretty excited to keep skating. That came out a bit after I started skating. I didn't really have easy access to skate videos (no shop in town and pre-internet over-saturation) so the next video I think I may have seen was Trilogy (1996) and that video had a huge impact on me. Lavar's part made me want to skate school yards and do long lines.

Most influential - Santa Cruz A reason for Living.

Worst would possibly be last nights viewing of Ol '84's Rust never sleeps.  Wow that sucked.

emerica - yellow.  I LOVE that video, and really wish I still had it, but I haven't seen it in a long time.  Luckily, most of it is on youtube.

Shorty's - Fulfill the Dream - Cat Stevens, we used to watch that part every single day before skating.

3d Innovations - Messin' Around.  I used to watch this one everyday before skating too.  A lot of times in the back of my friends dad's minivan!  We took one of the seats out and put in a portable tv/vhs player.

ahhhhh good memories.  :)
I actually did hit another skater in the face with my shoe once at a demo doing a shoes fly off kickflip but he was cool with it.

rodney vs daewon round 2. i forget how old i was but i could bust a tiny ollie, could flip a kickflip but hadn't figured out how to get my feet back on the board. then i saw this vid, looked at my board and felt pathetic as shit hahahaha.

seeing this vid first might explain why i enjoy the more tech oriented side to skating.

Transworld's Feedback

Even though that video was stacked with the Boss, Muska, and Rowley, I must have rewatched Dill and Ave's part 1000 times.

One friend gave me a used zero board, and another gave me a copied vhs tape with menikmati, dying to live and art bars. Pretty good selection to start with.

Zero's New Blood, I got it the day I got a skateboard. It definitely influenced me, making me think that handrails were the coolest thing to skate. And I still think that.

fucking Sight Unseen, that was utterly nuts.
No wait, think it was misled youth, that was the first VHS i bought anyway
those two always stuck out in my mind, i remeber the first DVD after that was globe-opinion, i imediatley wore a d-gonz white shirt open, loved that shit
I'm going to argue that Placebo owes their entire career to a Canadian dude's skate video part. Appleyard should be getting royalties for this shit.
