Same.   Def liked it more and more with each episode.   Not at all what I thought based on the pilot

Not much into Westerns, but I would highly recommend that Wyatt Earp and cowboy war doc on netflix.  Some pretty cool historical contexts that I didn't really know about the wild west, and how savage wyatt earp turned out in the end was crazy

Watch out cuz that's the hook with Westerns. Once you find out how brutal frontier life was it can be pretty compelling. Taylor Sheridan has made a whole TV universe off of this concept.

Awesome.   I associate LOTR with Christmas time so I’m saving them for later in the year, but glad to hear.

There’s also some animated movie coming out in the fall…Ride of the Rohirrim or something like that.    Not too immersed in the mythology to know what it’s covering

Sequel series to City of God is pretty good. It's crazy that they got the number of actors back from the original film that they did.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

I’m guessing except the actress.   Good to know it’s good.   I was just assuming it wasn’t so I didn’t give it a fair chance.   I’ll actually invest

It’s a couple of years old now but The Last Kingdom was great, finished it tonight. Favorite show in a while. I’ll watch the movie this weekend. Going to do Your Honor next.

I would skip Your Honor.   Cranston has never ACTED harder and the son is so annoying

Shogun was on ice?    Lucky you.   Wish I could watch that for the first time.

Gangs of London S1 is on Netflix and is a fun actiony time.   It’s partially by the guy who did the Raid films.    Maybe the best action sequences on TV, supplanting Banshee’s later seasons

Story fell off after season 1, season 2 was actually pointless...the writing was just awful at times too, the whole Desire crew angle was done very poorly

Cranston carried the whole show...yeah I hated the son in almost every scene he was in,

I did enjoy perfect couple (netflix)

HBO max:  The monkey doc from the tiger king guy is amazing

Yea I don’t watch a lot of TV; maybe an episode during the week and a couple on the weekends. It took like 4 months to finish Last Kingdom. Same with movies, I just don’t have time and have to pick between a show and a movie.

Got an episode of Shogun down, pretty hyped on it. Has anyone read the books?

Think Penguin is next though, I really liked that Batman.

I might reactivate my max sub for the penguin. It actually looks solid...

he was the most memorable part of the Batman film to me.

I just finished the first episode of The Penguin and I thought it was great. Colin Farrell is so fucking good in this role. His performance is captivating.

I know there are some mythology heads in here - there’s a Zach Snyder produced animated series about Norse mythology on Netflix now.   Real coin flip how it turns out

Not on Netflix (HBO) but my gf and I are watching the "Watchmen" series. Usually I don't like weird (not based in reality) material and/or anything Damon Lindloff (or whatever his name is)  -- and wasn't ecstatic about the "Watchmen" film either -- but halfway through the series and I'm enjoying it so far.

Just here to say how consistently good American Crime Story has been and that the Aaron Hernandez season so far is great. I was driving a lot in 2013 and followed that wild story via NPR. Also it had a CT hood shit connection so I was sucked in. If you hate the Pats or American football in general, you might actually like this more than if you are a fan. Or, if you love it all, this story really does kind of seem like a low point and a warning sign that things have gone off the rails for the sport.

Good to hear.   I was a little concerned Ryan Murphy wouldn’t be able to juggle his two concurrent Latino criminal stories he had going on, but I realize it’s American Sports Story and hopefully he had someone else write it like the OJ season.

I watched the first (2) episodes as well and am enjoying the writing and acting....I really like how they are leaning into the absurd levels of money getting put into college football and the over-glorification of the NFL to college athletes.

Did have a couple of lol moments when Cam Newton's character is on screen.  They are leaning heavily into the homophobia amongst football players which isn't surprising but glad they are bringing light to it.

That’s cool.   I just thought it’d be tough to have him as the main character without losing the fact that he was an insane guy to make him more sympathetic about how some things could have turned out different (don’t want to get into IRL spoilers in case you didn’t watch the Patriots doc or anything like that).

I’m going to watch tonight.

Also, recommend The English Teacher on FX.   It’s a pretty good comedy in part on how fucked it is to be hs teacher in general and in Texas.

The 2nd to last episode of Rings of Power was phenomenal.  As much criticism Tolkien scholars gave season 1 for good reason, this 2nd season has been so much fun

Kinda bummed about Crob getting slayed by Adar on the battlefield. And Mike Mos mom with the most beautiful hair in all the valley escaped with the nine.

Haha I think you mean Vince McMahon!   I think the only new revelation in it is that Steve Austin thinks CTE is something you can “not believe in”
