Alien: Earth seems promising based on the first two episodes. Probably wouldn't have even bothered if Noah Hawley wasn't the showrunner.
[close]

I just finished the first two episodes so far and I'm definitely in. I love Aliens, but I do like the weird synthetic/artificial human aspect that a lot of the fans of the series seem to gravitate towards.
[close]

I just watched the first episode and I’m hooked.
[close]

just finished the second episode and i am definitely going to continue watching this series. “guard the omelette” made me laugh harder than it should have.

I love how bold and slightly offbeat this is, not just doing yet another Alien remake, especially since that kind of would have fit quite naturally with Hawley’s style in Fargo.

Just like the new Superman movie, I was sold after the opening text

Recently watched Onibaba on HBO for the first time. I see why Willem Dafoe bought the rights and refuses to do any remakes. I wouldn't want to tarnish its reputation either.

For anyone who caught the excellent Rebel Ridge on Netflix, the lead of that movie just got cast as the Green Lantern

I just saw this on the big screen with Saulnier in person.

Curious to know what you liked about it because, aside from the performances by Aaron Pierre and Don Johnson, and the action sequences, I found it pretty underwhelming. Most of my criticism is levied at the main female character/actress, and the relationship between her and the lead, but there were other things I found lacking, dialogue and pace-wise.

But the theater seemed to really enjoy it so go figure.

Feeling all the alien hype

Just finished episode 3 and really enjoying everything so far

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

I’ve been a huge fan of the series, really enjoyed all the films except 3 which maybe I should revisit. I especially like Prometheus and covenant and I thought romolus was a better reboot than they did with the Star Wars franchise but I enjoy the shows that move the cannon more than just playing the hits. I can’t really watch a movie about all these fantastical things and then have it ruined because I feel someone should have ran left instead of straight.

In case it isn’t known - apparently this series takes place two years before Alien (1)

Gave Mr. Inbetween finally a try after seeing clips in my Youtube recommendations for two years. Four episodes in and it's really good! The 25 minute runtime per episode makes it very concise.

I want to reactivate Hulu just to finish it... dug it as well.

Been enjoying the Paper.   The Office and Parks and Rec didn’t hit their stride until the second season and this feels like a stronger first season than either

I been watching The Drew Carey Show; I’ve got a regular t.v. and antenna, but I see it’s streaming on Pluto TV. Super funny show.

Also watched Nine Bodies In a Mexican Morgue on MGM+. I’m not much for thrillers or scary stuff in my entertainment, however this was sufficiently creepy and intriguing for six episodes.

I just re watched Better Call Saul for the 3rd time last month...it is crazy how the story lines all diverge with a bang during the final season.

Anybody else watch The Studio on Apple?
I blazed through all episodes in a week or so , it reminded me of Entourage except actually funny.
Hope this is back for 2nd season.

It’s definitely back for a 2nd season - it got a fuck ton of Emmy noms.

The biggest difference between Entourage and this is that one shows the realistic end of wish fulfillment (but also the funny thing too).   I could never tell if Vince was supposed to be a good actor in the show or just if it was just Hollywood smoke blowing

Loved The Studio, although I have a love/hate relationship with the super long shots. I knew it had to banger from when they got Scorsese in the first episode. It's great seeing all the directors have some fun with their exaggerated personas too.

I've also been watching Platonic (the other Apple x Seth Rogen show) and found that to be pretty funny too. It's quite good at merging Millennial & Gen Z humor together in a none cringeworthy way.

I rewatched I Don't Feel At Home In This World Anymore and forgot how much I loved it. Made me laugh and just a super fun film. It made me go down the rabbit hole of who made it and turns out it's Macon Blair's directorial debut. He's the star of Blue Ruin, which is another awesome movie. He also did the Toxic Avengers reboot, so based on how much I loved anything Blair is involved in, I gotta check it out.

You’d love that Sal Saperstein is getting thanked at the non-televised Emmys a lot tonight.   Hope it keeps up Sunday

Spinal Tap 2 feels like it could have been a streaming movie.   Audience I was with was loving it and it was more charming than funny, but it was such a small seeming movie that I’m surprised it made it to screens over other movies

Just two episodes in so far, but Task is shaping up to be pretty decent.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

This guy gives me a lot of Forte vibes. I couldnt watch. Just seems like hes biting one of his characters or maybe a voice?
