I believe that they are anodized, not painted or powder coated. The color is fixed but fortunately also looks cool.

Ace has been a little trixy about this. They made a big splash that they were doing anodized but I think the only anodized stuff they've put out was that two color baseplate. I bought the black AF1s thinking they were anodized before I noticed the product name doesn't mention ano whereas the blue/orange specifically do. In hand, I'm pretty sure the black ones are powder coated because you can see at the end of the hangar where it's still just polished. I believe true anodized would cover the entire piece. The satin limes may be another story entirely but the product name is the same where it doesn't specifically say ano. If anyone knows different I'd love to be wrong but I think those green jawns will strip just fine.

Interesting! I’ve got the blue/orange and they are definitely anodized, and I saw the lime next to them and I guess I just assumed. Someone buy a pair and find out!

You can remove the anodizing with heavy duty(yellow can) Easy-Off oven cleaner. Can’t remember exact times for letting it sit before rinsing but Google will know.

I did this a few times with bike parts and yes, but be careful because you generate some seriously toxic waste and if you leave the cleaner on too long you will put the aluminum. But yeah, it works.
