yeah. shane i kinda understand why hes off but the other 3 make no sense to me. reynolds cant just cave and find a way to pay them less to keep em on the team? will they finally put reno on the team?
why is this so hard for everyone to wrap their heads around? all of those dudes had a great run as pros. lenoce had 10+ years. shane had his time to shine, but hes right when he said that thing about doing noseslides and crooks for the rest of his life. nobody can argue that spanky hasnt been on his way out since baker 3. he came from winning tampa am in 03 and being one of the hottest young dudes in skating to putting out lazy parts. if you dont agree, thats fine, but its true. hes not what he used to be, and he never hit a point of greatness that would validate keeping him pro now. braydon is the only guy i really feel sort of bad for because he seems like hes still ripping just as hard, but at the same time he was always out shinned by multiple people on the team. he was never a stand out guy, and with a team of 8 pros not including the guys who got cut, it doesnt make sense to keep any more dudes who are going to be "filler" pros. all of these guys are good skaters, but theyve all had their run. baker might be a "family" but its also a business. andrew has to pay all his riders and still be able to pay himself. im sure of they were all rolling in dough over their, nobody would be getting cut, but that doesnt sound like the situation over at baker boys. and when you have dudes like riley hawk and cyril jackson coming up who rightfully deserve a spot, youve got to make some cuts if youre going to give the new guys a chance to shine. and ive got no way to prove it, but id be willing to bet riley and cj alone probably could move more decks than spanky, jeff, braydon, and heyl combined. its mostly young kids who buy baker boards, whos boards do you think theyre going to buy? its business.
