I give it to Dylan for one thing.....he sure doesn't back any corporate sponsors anymore. Dude should be your skater's favorite skater with his sponsor list below:

FA, Huf, Spitfire, Thunder, Analog, MOB, Jack's Garage, Swiss, Roughneck Hardware

If you don't think Street League is a sponsor you should think twice.

FA sell boards, SL sells ad time.

2nd vote would be for PJ. sometimes it is a fine command of the english language to say nothing and he extended that to skating. PJ's plan B part is the emperor's new clothes.

Don't really care for the FA stuff, their apparel was bad and the graphics are mediocre. I feel like Dylan is kind of acting like FA is doing something extremely different where as there is already lots of rad little board companies killing it and being very unique with shapes, branding and art (welcome, polar...). I would rather give my money to a smaller company that has some real art direction and focus (magenta, Isle, Polar...) than FA with some crappy shock value art that Dill pretentiously throws together thinking he's breaking the mold.

Fucking Awesome is small.  What is "real" art direction?

The Art of Fabo

Explore your inner sheffledge. Eat from any of the popular dollar menus at least three times a week. Make sure you eat one fabo meal (filet mignon, foie gras, black truffle, etc) a week, preferably on the weekend. Have girls in bikini at your crib whenever there are guests. Her panties and a t-shirt will suffice if bikinis aren?t available. Take hits of dank endo from either a Ricci or Renfro (R.I.P. doggie) bong with guests. Watch any fabo-approved skate video dating from 1999 and/or earlier. Wear fabo windbreaker pants on your next skate date. Your flatground arsenal must consist of illusion flips, varial flips, and fakie tricks. Get that Jesus Fernandez world cup switch mongo dialed*. Must be at full speed or your fabo levels will disappear once you set up for your next trick. Listen to G. Dep for inspiration. Pray to Quim God.

- Serg

*Jesus Fernandez is not on Fabo Les or associated with Fabo Dist., but his levels are pretty fabo IMH&HO.

I was reluctant about FA at first, but after stepping on a friend's board I loved the shape and now I want one.

It's a Workshop board...same wood...same shapes.

As for the brand, they have ended up being cooler than I thought. However I feel like they putting a lot on their plate too quickly. They currently have 4 pros another dude who will expect to be turned pro soon and how many ams? Nakel, Sage, Sean, Tyshawn, that other kid...

I also feel like its their thing to be super subtle to keep people always wanting more and never giving it. That may work or may just get old after awhile. I don't think they plan on having an official team, like listing them anywhere some dudes might not be into that. The company is still very new and has a long way to go but ultimately I'm psyched on it, not on everything they do and especially not the name but it seems like they are offering something cool to the skateboard world.

He also does DKNY ad's which allows him the financial security by going with non-corporate sponsors. Austyn has pretty similar sponsors and doesn't supplement his income by doing modeling.

I love Dylan's skating but his thoughts are nothing short of laughable.

Out of ALL people, he's talking about not giving a fuck what other people think? As if EVERY single thing he does isn't a calculated move to portray a certain image whether it be his clothing or his skating. You can't be part of a shitty fucking DKNY ad and then come back to the skate world and talk about how raw you are and how much you don't give a fuck about what other people think.

Also, FA>Bianca Chandon. While there are many similar qualities to the two brands, FA at least has some sort of discernible character/image. Bianca is literally like a collage of other people's ideas (he couldn't even think of a name so he used someone's actual name, LOL), I forgot who said it, but somebody on here said something like AO's brand is Tumblr skateboards and he was right on the money.

That being said, I also really like FA's team so far so that's one reason to support. If they started coming out with more product that was cheaper (which is probably never going to happen), I'd be way down with the brand.

The way I see it, that's a fine example of not giving a fuck what other people think

The way FA doesn't give a fuck and the way Dylan "doesn't give a fuck" are very different. In order to be as into fashion as he is, you gotta be very superficial. The whole basis for being a model is caring what other people think about how you look to the extent you actually want people to be looking at you all the time. Meaning he in fact gives a huge fuck about his image, thus negating the idea he doesn't give a fuck. Big difference between FA not giving a fuck and fucking with the conventions of the skateboard industry and Dylan not giving a fuck about what we think about him being obsessed with something as superficial as the fashion/modeling industry.

So $32.00 T-shirts, $15.00 stickers, and $90.00 hoodies are the future of skateboarding?

Skate clothes have always been more expensive than regular clothes.

God, this guy ^ is such a fucking dork.

yeah dude, Dill and his FA boys simply dont give a fuck the way dylan. does

these guys are self-aware and dress a certain way. they are no different from our fave pretty-boi dylan. (he's just more into 'high-fashion' than some of his teammates, big deal).

i hate how everyone tries to give these fuckers shit for being into what they wear while they act like the Welcome kids or SF tranny-heshers in Dickies, Vans, flannels and trucker hats or NYC dudes in baggy sweats and throwback Starter jackets are any different.

hey slap, no matter how you choose to dress and regardless of how vain or self-conscious you are, you have to decide what type of clothes to put on your body.

you guys need to quit being such prissy insecure pussies. get over how other shredders dress already, you tiny-dicked girly-men.

^ I should have been more specific. I don't believe fa dude's dress lackadaisically at all, obviously their shit is all calculated as well. But I meant the way Dylan was portraying FA to be in the terms of not caring what other people think is in no way equivalent to his so called way of doing so, thus contradicting himself.

I'm a huge fan of both Dylan, Dill, and the rest of the FA team for that matter, but everything else about this brand is just lame. Their image is sophomoric and gimmicky. None of the art has any substance, and quite frankly it's just lazy. Anyone can slap a black and white school photo they found at their mom's house on a board. Not to mention that Dill's been selling those same $90 hoodies for years now when Fucking Awesome was just a weird little streetwear venture. All of the products are just stale and uninspired, which is why I don't understand how anyone could say this brand is better than Bianca Chandon. Even though the majority of AO's products are obscure and eccentric, at least they have interesting roots and a bit of a story behind them. Many people might not agree that dance music and rave culture should be associated with skateboarding, but it's new and a step outside of the ordinary. FA is simply building a brand based off randomness.

To me, it seems like Dill is essentially trying to establish a customer base similar to Odd Future's fans. I'm not really into rap, but last time I checked, no one who actually listens to rap has paid any attention to that group since Tyler, the Creator came out with Goblin. The people who still buy Odd Future's music, clothing, and merchandise are most likely white teens from the suburbs. They're the 13 year olds with weed socks, who had to throw a temper tantrum at Zumiez to get their moms to buy them. Those kids are going to be the ones wearing FA. Their parents will buy them the shirts as long as they promise not to wear it to school. Dill knows that, and he'll be laughing all the way to the bank. But at the end of the day, he'll swear he has the most core intentions in the world for FA.

But I did get them for free from my shop, so whatevz. I ain't spending 90 bucks on a hoodie, regardless who made it. fuck that

man some of you are so cynical and over think wayy too much. if its not the Supreme video being the deus ex machina to come and fix skateboarding forever, its how lame someone is for wanting to be different.  why don't you all accept what things are and go do something yourself rather than sulk and complain.  make a brand yourself.

maybe a company also charges 30 bucks for a shirt because its all skater owned with no corporate investor

Do you ever have legit arguments with yourself because you're too dumb to come up with an intelligent opinion? The whole basis of being a model is actually the same as being a professional skateboarder. You make something look cool so other people will buy it. This whole argument about people caring or not caring is fucking stupid.

That is a good thing.

I always knew branding/marketing was for idiots. You sound like you need "a brand to tell a story so you can identify with it's message."  You're better off buying Kashi. Enjoy your target markets, focus groups, key demographics, and brand storytelling.

I hope so for his sake because selling limited runs of decks/tees ain't going to be paying the salaries of this team for too long. I wonder if the FA ams even get paid.
