I got a roger In the tugboat shape. Posted in setups. After two sessions I’m really loving it. Has a bigger nose so my nollie stuff is a little weird but I don’t have a strong nollie game anyway.

I've been interested in that one - is the nose steep?

Not terribly, steeper than my last board which was a baker but more mellow than my northern co I had on the wall. I can take some photos and message you when I get a chance if you want.

I'm surprised Birdhouse hasn't gone down the re-issue route more heavily.

barely skated last week, waiting to setup a dane 1. not nearly as stoked on my quasi 8.5 unsurprisingly.

dane 1
venture 6.1s
f4 conical full 52mm 101a
swiss super six
indy 78a barrels
bronze 1" allen
mini logo pivot cups

riptides on the way. hitting a curb to break all this in tomorrow morning
while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo

I would take a 2nd mortgage to get my hands on some Kirchart, Willy Santos, Suski and Barley graphic re-issues.

Came for the Donny Barley, left with 2 Tony Hawk reissues:

7.5" and incredibly mellow. All 3 still had the signature BBS alignment marking on the top mounting holes.

Edit: Instagram was messing with me, re-upload on imgur
[close]

Those things look crazy from the top view.

Do you know how old they are, or roughly guess?  I come up with 2003-2004 for Barley Birdhouse from a quick search.

Also curious how much they cost, but not worried if I never find out.
[close]

Yeah roughly mid-2000s when Barley and Suski were on for a brief period. Been combing through old issues of 411vm, i know he had a Pro Setup in there and he was on a Birdhouse deck.

Paid around $70 USD for each one, it was a hardcore collector looking to liquidate so it was fun to talk shop with him too.

Shapes are dope.

And 70$ for each one sounds like a real bargain.

The Tony Hawk ones could be worth something in a few years but I was having a major nostalgia boner when I found the Donny Barley deck. Too bad I have zero wall space so these will likely sit in a storage cabinet with the rest of my collection.

They don’t do re-issues, but they have done plenty of homages. Jaws has one out now. Willy santos releases some older graphics under his workshop brand

didnt they just released a couple tony hawk re-issues? i find the homages of older graphics slapped with a different persons name to be meh.
that "jaws" video where he does that 25 stair in france, the one that ali boulala tried, where he got his protective gear and his dad cheering for him at the bottom of the stairs really did not sit well with me. it felt so corny. whenever i see his name, that's all i think about. i think fred mortagne was telling ali that "jaws" had the protective gear and ali said the only thing he had when tried it was a hangover.

My wife thinks half cabs are ugly but with my current pair she said that they don't look as bad as she remembers but they're still pretty dumb looking so I bought her a pair in her size. Just regular black classic half cabs, the same as mine.

I also bought a pair of 55mm oj mini super juices because I want to try and skate on frozen dirt spots I've been eyeing up since it's winter.

scumco 8.5/31.5/14.0 from @ballintoohard
venture forged plates from @tzhangdox
riptide pivot cups

still in love with my dane1 setup but im itching to learn some basic ledge tricks and i need more nose to be consistent.

last time on a 14" wheelbase, i found that less distance from my front foot to the nose makes pop brainless, almost felt like cheating outside of the board being half an inch too thin. this sort of ease is exactly what i want to give complete focus to the ledge.

good width + short length + short wb = perfect?

the forged plates and raw 5.6 hangers should push the wheels out to a comfortable 17.5, so slipping out should be a non-issue. all i can do is speculate anxiously until everything arrives and is set up

Bones STF 54mm V3, the TJ Rogers model. Wanted to give the V3 another try in a bigger size, 52mm were on asphalt was bone jarring. Not a fan of graphic wheels TJ had a great 2020, happy to ride his stuff. No Blind boards yet though.

I bought two chapman blanks, one of which i wanted to set up for my girlfriend but it looks like she actually would rather rollerblade so whatever

I had a politic that delaminated down one side literally the first week I had it. Literally 2 days after the blanks got to my house I broke the nose doing a fs shuv on flat :(

really like how the chapman is skating. The nose looked smaller to me but to be honest I quite like it. I notice I do my kickflips better when popping off the nose anyways so maybe a smaller nose would actually help me.

I got pink and brown, which aren't my favorite colors but oh well

I don’t break boards. Only rotate stuff, so I have decks that are years old. Anyways, for me, if I get to skate the board 4 times, that feels like cutoff. 2 months of everyday skating seems like a really really long time to me.

After lubing my bearings yesterday I was not able to attach one wheel because the axle thread was defect. So I ordered the Independent skate tool with axle rethreader and a few axle nuts. Stuff arrived today and the rethreader works a treat (or should I say thread haha). Anyway stoked I was able to get this delivered quickly and the tool is great even if quite costly. Now if only the rain would stop so I could skate  >:(
why come?

Found a pair of New Balance 868s to add to the collection for $50.
