Okay elevator pitch: what does everyone like about the easy rider over the normal concave?
I was actually having a talk to a few people about this the other day, as I have a number of boards with very mellow concave, mostly in the 8.38 shape, which could be the Kyle mellow mold, as well as a few old, to very old boards, that have a very similar concave as the Easy Rider. When people stand on them, they all (every single one of them without fail) say they feel flat, even though they do have some concave when you hold a ruler across the board.
Although it is NOT the Easy Rider concave, it is a whole lot more comfortable on my foot, so it doesn't feel like I am standing on the edges of the board with a more mellow side to side concave and although some flip tricks don't come off the foot quite as easily, I also feel like my foot doesn't get stuck on the board as much as something with a lot more concave too.
If a board is too flat across, then things take a bit of a turn for the worse, but if there is still just enough concave to hold my foot on, then I am happy, or should I say happier than if there is too much concave and my feet start to feel like I am jammed up standing on something that my toe and heel take most of the pressure. In soft soled shoes, this is not good at all.
That can be directly transferred in comments about the Easy Rider decks - some people stand on them and say they are too flat, others need to actually feel the board gripped and set up to get how it changes things, but any which way, they are a different board for sure.
Also I forgot to mention but they are twin kicks too, so they are both the same angle, not nose 24' and tail 23' which is what the most common BBS or boards in general are, even though you could change numbers, nose is usually steeper than the tail. Easy Rider boards are both 23' or so, even if the board is cut to have a normal longer nose and a shorter tail.
I think that is about it. Definitely talk too much about this stuff, but concave is pretty much everything to me.
* Had to go back and have another read over the Easy Rider info - noted side to side concave is 8.5' and most boards are closer to 10' as well as kick angles closer to 21' than 23' or so, but the funny thing is some people say the kicks are still as steep as their other boards, just the middle concave is way more flat.
