The 440 v2 Hi has literally changed my skating. The protection and boardfeel in combination is insane after ten years in sk8 his and LRABs. Been thinking about trying the 480 high next. Could experts outline differences/similarities? Do they run similar with sizes? The 440 is too tight in the toe box for me to walk comfortably in them all day but that's what makes them so precise for skating, I love it.
480 is pretty different from 440 v2 hi. Much more padding under foot, different toe cap, overall bulkier. That said I’ve been skating both for the last year, and I switch between them without issue. I feel like 480 has better flick because of the toe design, but I like the overall feel of wearing the 440 v2 hi better. I also think the 480 is NB’s best looking shoe.
I agree with this comment. Love the 480 look, but always end up back skating in 440V2s, personally I think it's the best shoe on the market in terms of comfort, shock absorb and still have really solid board feel. The V2 was a huge upgrade from V1 (even though I think the V1 looks better in the high).
The 480 has a roomier toe box, so I think you'll like them a lot. I have a slim foot and find the 480 is a little roomy for me, but I do still skate them. And I usually wear them around for a week before I skate them to break them in a bit. Where as the 440 V2 is just perfect out the box.
