Heel slip is crazy in the Reynolds 480s, the natas 480 highs are annoying with no tongue straps, the 1010s I have also have massive heel slip. Yes I bought the correct size. I just don’t think numerics are for me personally. Wanted to desperately like them but they don’t agree with me

Are you talking about the new Reynolds that just came out? Or the old ones? I get pretty bad heel slip in my normal pair of 480’s so I was hoping the new Reynolds with the tongue straps would be better fitting

I have the original 480 color way (burnt orange, white) and I feel like my ankles can tip at any moment. The tipping point is just sudden and harsh with that sole for me.  I don't recommend them for anyone with wide heels as I think that's the problem. No heel slip for me tho.

Only model that I get heel slip with is the 808, and it tends to go away after the shoe is broken in.

Happened to me with the 480 I rode, least stable NB and I had to give up before break in was complete after rolling my ankle twice in my 2nd session while skating flat.

I got the new Reynolds 480 (tan ones) and a pair of the black ones too. I get heel slip in both of them. I even sized down a half size as people suggested. I have to lace them real tight to work. Love the look---the fit is just off in the back of the shoe for me. The toe box feels fine. Probably just use them for chillers.

Would yall say the heel slip on the 480 is similar to the 1010s? Cause I have heel slip in that shoe in every size and I’m just not got bother with 480s if that’s the case.

480s i have the leather brown and pink ones, no heel slip for me, however I agree on the stability issue others expressed. if i put anything thicker than the stock insole in them i feel like I'm gonna fall over just walking through the living room. I have not skated them for this reason. I do feel like there is more cushion in the heel on these than the 1010, could just be the heel to toe drop being a bit different though.

I've had 2 pair of 1010, the first was the caramel/tan with blue mesh and other is the green with leather toe area, the green pair had very little heel slip, after a day it went away, the caramel ones i had to heel lock the laces for like 2 weeks but then it also went away.

1010 size 11 and the 480 size 10.5

Went out to the curb spot tonight to break in my 440V2’s. Straight out of the box maybe the most comfortable skate shoe I’ve had in almost 30 years on the board. No pinch points or hot spots in the hour I was out there. I had a final session for my 425’s earlier in the day and while I was happy with those I won’t be going back after the 440’s wear out. As long as NB keeps making these I won’t skate anything else.

Suede 480s = the truth

I get some tiny heel slip but I think it’s because I went half a size up, I suspect true to size or lower would be ideal.

Also noticed stability issues but I assume it’s because they are lows and I have little bitch ankles. Think the suede high top 480 TTS might be the solution to that

Thanks for this. I LOVE the simplicity, lightness and boardfeel of the original 440, and have been on the fence about the V2 as I fear NB# might have ruined something special with the updated model (making them too bulky etc.), but sounds like they fit the bill just fine.

If I didn't like the 440 V1 will I like the 440 V2 more?
Is there some internal arch support in the 508? Maybe I give these another try.

And what is the consensus on the 272 regarding the size? 306 and 600 are tts for me. 574 felt weird in tts and half size down, but I liked the wider toebox in them. Half size down the length of the shoe was good, whereas in my usual 7.5 the shoe felt hella long. Which brings me to the 272. Jake Hayes and Tom K seem to only skate these shoes and they look hella nice on them.

Genuinely bummed reading about how many of you guys get heel slip from various NB# models. I'm on several weeks of the 1010 for the first time ever and I haven't been this stoked on a shoe, maybe ever. All day at work on my feet, skating long sessions afterwards, I get no foot or leg pain whatsoever and I actually feel like they've somehow improved my skating a little bit. I feel very secure and agile with these. I started the cupsole journey mainly with the spanky G6's but these are another level. The durability and quality being twice as good. Different colorways seem to go deadstock fairly quick so I hope after these if I find another colorway that isnt too...dad...they still fit and perform the same.

^ I agree.

Got heel slip on the 480s and 440 lows though. 1010s heel slip maybe the first session or so for me but after that its good and locks my foot in better than any other low top. I do walk around in them for quite a while before I skate em though because I have way too many lol

I didn't like the 440v1 and Iove the 440v2
They feel so much firm and they're super comfy straight away.

Interesting enough I just tried my 600 both launch colors: white leather and the black suede. Tongue on the black ones is way nicer and puffier than the white ones. Also fit is way better, my foot doesn't swim inside the shoe like in the white ones. Is a extremely noticeable difference. Quality on the white ones is really bad comparing with the black ones.
Will have to leave the white ones on Stalin for somebody to grab, I have no interest on wasting time with those since they were a waste of time and money.

New Balance in New Zealand are killing off skate shops here. There is a website here called hyperride.co.nz where Numeric shoes often sell for about $25 us dollars. The seem to buy in bulk and sell them for cheap. I have been guilty of buying off them before and I have stocked up. Who wouldn't when I can get four pairs for the price of one?
Meanwhile we have had skate shops sit on stock for months trying to sell shoes at regular prices. They even pay more at wholesale for the shoes. People just wait until cheap shoes pop up in the website.
It's not really helping the brand here as new styles don't sell and it cheapens the product image.
I don't own a skateshop but have been supportive towards one local for decades.
Do you know anything about this Rothdigga? I'm sure numeric is not wanting skates shops to close down?
Was away on a trip and just now catching up.  I'm looking into this now, that seems very odd as our team down in NZ is pretty damn buttoned up so I'll figure out what the hell is happening here.

Ya all lace the 1010 to the top lace or leave one out? My homie wears kinda slim pants and laced his 1010s to the top. It didn't look bad honestly. I always thought you had to leave the top lace out with the 1010s

1010's are basically two shoes in one. Leave em loose like tiago or chokem to the very top like reynolds or lay.

Franky 417 mid - anyone know if I should order true to size? Reviews on NB say they were too small/tight and to order half size up and then weartest review says to go half size down.

I'm a small UK8 I guess but buy an 8 in vans, blazers etc.

Should I get the same for the Franky's?

My first pair of 1010’s were white with the green accents, probably a top 3 skate shoe ever for me in my 30 years on a bloard. I got a pair of the all green suede 1010’s and the sizing is slightly off, definitely get heel slip and they feel tight and stiff on me at the same time. I’m gonna post them in the classifieds soon if anyone is comfortable and enjoys this particular pair, size 9.5. Only worn once, did a few Ollie’s and pushed around.

The white leather/green accents have the mesh toe box thats why. I can only wear my TTS 9.5 in the mesh toe box colorways. If it doesnt have the mesh toe, its too tight/narrow on my toes.

You should be fine length wise. I wear 9.5 in Vans and had 9.5 in the Franky Mids. The toe box is rather strange though...it feels like paneling is pushing down on your toes.

I tried 9.5 in the new Franky Lows but they felt more narrow and had to return them.

I'm not sure what the improvements were but if I had to guess they raised the toe box just a little bit (toe box has more height) but was still bummed I couldnt support Franky due to its fit.

Does anyone else feel like they are in-between sizes for NB? Right now mesh toe 1010s are the only model that fits me well.
I've tried: 1010, 808, 306, 440V2, 417 mid & lows.
