Holy fuck, I hope that price on the Reynolds is wrong. How much more can skate shoes go up in cost and skaters keep affording them. I wanted to get a pair but it's getting ridiculous. We're going to be at $150 soon. I want them to do well but man I think that cost may hurt that
That price is correct. $130 retail. They're SUPER tech and there's a lot built into them, they don't look and feel like just a regular old suede shoe with nothing into it so hopefully our history of durability and comfort will justify that, but I do get that $130 is difficult for some.
Crazy. I hope the shoe blends the 600/480/880/1010...into something that actually fits...and let's not forget the 10.5s
I’m curious what your issue is with New Balance fits and if it relates to mine, I just believe that my feet are more narrow than most but most models tend to feel a bit loose around my heel and ankle. The 417’s that I’m currently wearing are okay for me as they are mid/high tops and I think the collar of the shoe helps a bit from slipping. I kinda crank the laces so that they’re closer to how snug I’d prefer them and that just leaves them looking super goofy. I’ve skated my pair for almost 2 weeks now and they kinda bum me out to look down on.
This shit is annoying because I just want to skate shoes that my local shop sells and I really wanna like these because then I’d also have the option of buying the lows!!!!
1010..what a nightmare for me 10s too small (length), 10.5s too big (shiton of heelslip and I have to crank them down worse than the PS8s)...and it still slips and this is supposedly after they 'fixed' the heel slip.
808s, just too fucking narrow, no matter the length of the shoe
480s, too long in my TTS (10.5)
417s, perfect in 10.5 (currently skating these, much love for them)...and yeah the taller ankle area helps with slip (there is a teeny tiny bit).
600s 'ok' in 10.5 I just felt like the shoe was 'thin' and not as supportive as I would have liked; do want to try them again in all suede.
272s (first drop, havent tried since) 10, too long, 10.5 MASSIVE
255 10.5 perfect
440 V1 10
440 V2 10.5 (low wides, amazing shoe, would kill for a mid based off it and NOT the 440v2 high)
440 V2 Mids (not wides) narrow and they broke in a bit but nowhere near as comfy as this 440 low wides, amazing shoe but
Generally, I think it mostly the brand's sizing. The rounded (usually vulc) compared to the square (cup) seem to fit differently than each other THEN within those confines, some vulcs fit diff than others, same for cups; heel counter shape is a big factor, i.e., curved vs straight, and the fact that many NB 'look' wider than they are outsole/foxing are deceptive for this brand...like the 808 or 417...then there is the suede vs non-suede...fit. Don't gt me worng, I like options but sometimes it feels like there's just too much. The WIDES seem to fit me better and I don't really have a massivly wide foot at all, it's just some of the show shape works better wider; an 808 wide would probably fit me tts.
(all you every NB# fits me TTS guys, super happy for you btw).
When I can just blind buy nike or vans in my size 10.5 and be done knowing it's going to fit Usually). It's a bummer trying to find NB# local so I do a lot of mail order (lot's of shoes at a time and return them, it sucks, carbon footprint and shit).
